Biography
T E A S E L
Beast Tamer
Teasel joined Blackglass from a closely allied Wind Clan. She is a poor flier due to a damaged left wing, yet this has given her the advantage of being comfortable on the ground. Guardians and Imperials can tower over her without causing a flinch. Paired with a deep need to nurture anything that is hurting, she became the dragon to turn to in matters of wildlife rescue. She mostly aids unintelligent animals, such as trapped Elk or injured Vulstals, but from time to time will be brought in to negotiate with Harpies or Maren.
Her demeanour can be gruff, she speaks with mumbling rushed words and isn't afraid of standing up for herself if she thinks she's being talked down to. But if those who get to know Teasel will find a well of compassion.
She has travelled across Sornieth coaxing beasts out of messy situations where they are a harm to themselves and others, as well as helping them recover injuries or even nursing babies in her den. She is a reserved, quiet dragon, prefering to mind her own business, even when her claws are full of screaming Kamaitachi pups abandoned by their mother. She is often sleepless, piling on more and more to help wherever she can. Cerribis, the clan's vet, often works alongside her as she brings in ailing animals. He is a close friend and at times her sole confidante.
Teasel finds solace and joy in what she does, and in small moments will stare dreamily out of windows at webwings soaring overhead, or listening to the distant bleat of Cerdae. She especially loves Wendigos, even if the lumbering antlered things are often her most troublesome clients...
"Misunderstood, you say?" The Guardian frowns and looks down at the frail-looking Fae. Her clothes are golden and almost monastic, behind her mask are two pale, moony eyes that leap about his person like a grasshopper.
"Yes sir," She says in the classic Fae monotone, "I got raised in the Zephyr Steppes, and my fa' was a Skydancer. I got the calm, I got the intuition, sir. It's natural for me."
He frowns and squints as he walks beside her down the forest path, "And you're telling me this qualifies a tiny thing like you to take down this Wendigo?"
"I don't take nothing down, sir. I'm a talker."
The Fae disappeared inside the mouth of the cave for quite some time, the Guardian chewed on his tongue in nervousness. He just wanted it out of his cave as it was full of delicate and rare gem formations and fossils. It was under his protection and he felt anxious allowing anyone in, let alone a "beast tamer". He'd tried everything to persuade it out, but he was too afraid of provoking it lest it bellow the roof down.
There was an echo of gentle hoof-steps; the fae was perched on the Wendigo's shoulder as it blearily toddled out the cave. The guardian's jaw dropped.
"Now, scuse' me," she spoke in a hushed tone as she gently brushed the fur on the beast's cheek, "but where can I find another cave? He just needs a place to hibernate s'all."
The guardian twisted his face and pointed, "East, you'll find it under the roots of a big oak, it was empty last I heard from some gatherers..."
"Thanks. C'mon little fella..."
And off they went, the Wendigo dragging his feet and yawning as she steered him gently to his new home...
