Biography
Ratavar Arctic Explorer |
|
The wind howls around the massive spires of ice, blasting the world with snow and sleet in its never ending storm. Hidden by the wind's endless rage, the sound of soft scraping was audible only to a single dragon, a tundra, busily burrowing his way into one of the smaller spires with powerful claws. This was one of his favored passtimes, digging out the relics of the past to free them from their icy tomb. There was a reason they were here--for most things, at least. But others had simply been caught in the crossfire, so to speak. Relics of every flight, of all kinds. Books, jewelry, magically imbued globes, and Icewarden only knew what else. The monstrosities of the past should stay buried, sure, but these? They were history. They deserved better than to be locked in ice for eternity, and who better than him to dig them up? He paused when his claws hit wood, then his ears perked up when he saw his prize--an ancient treasure chest, marked with dark runes. He grinned to himself, white eyes wide with excitement as he began to eagerly dig at the ice, scraping the ice and slush from the chest to slowly free it from its icy prison. "Yes! Finally!" He cheered softly, yanking it free to gently clunk it onto the ground, fiddling with the lid before pushing it slowly open. The contents were fairly normal at first glance--a pile of soft fabric, some gold bars, a roll of maps...and then, the real treasure. A thick, ancient tome, written in a language he couldn't possibly read but made his head spin a bit to look at. He ran a slow claw along the cover before gently picking it up, the grin only widening. How old was this thing? What secrets had it been hiding all this time? Brushing some frost from the cover, he slowly, gently cracked the cover open, taking a peek at the inner pages. Was that...the mark of the Shadowbinder? Indeed it was. Written in dark ink, surrounded by magical runes millennia old, was the mark of the Shadow flight. This thing was probably absolutely loaded with secrets, and the tundra dragon's excitement was only growing. He had to get this translated, get it copied or something. Whatever this book was, it was a treasure trove of history, and he could probably use it to find even more cool stuff. He lifted the book a bit to catch the faint light a bit better to examine it, but paused at the shadow that instead fell over it, an imposing form blocking his exit, with the silhouette of two branching antlers... |
