Marlow came to Nature Flight seeking the solution to a problem. He's dead, you see, and that doesn't sit well with him. And where better to find the answer to this problem than a region so choked with life that the jungles shriek? Based on this reason, he spent the time after his death making the long, long journey from the Southern Icefield to the Viridian Labyrinth. Eventually, he found a clan that would take him in; the misfits already living in the Clan of the Outcast hardly even batted an eye at the addition of a translucent, ethereal Wildclaw. In life, Marlow was an adventurer and a treasure seeker. He once had the great idea to raid the Fortress of Ends for the treasures rumored to be within its walls. Considering his current state, it is easy to assume how it ended: first imprisonment, which is why in death he remains wrapped in chains. Also visible are the remnants of the ice that slowly crept across his body, freezing him in time and place. Marlow remembers how long it took for his life to leave, and thanks his luck that the clan lair is always warm and humid. If he had his way, he would never feel the cold again. It is unclear why Marlow, once having passed, was able to step outside of his body and continue 'living.' He met no others like him as he made the trek from the fortress out into the wider world, and few dragons that he has met have ever reacted as though his state was something they had seen before. While that isn't the best news for a dragon who would like to rejoin the living, because it means that there aren't others like him to compare notes with, he continues to be optimistic. In fact, the death cult that he stumbled across in the shadows of the Clan of the Outcast might have the answers he needs. The priests Velikaya and Vashti insist that death is temporary, and that life returns even stronger after death. That has to be a good thing for him, right? |
