"Here you go. The show's next week, I'll see you there!" ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Prelude does magic! Or should we say magic tricks and illusions. In a place where actual magic is so common, the average dragon has yet to see someone correctly predicting a chosen card, or conjuring a flock of doves with a mere tip of a hat! Prelude has perfected his act over years of practice and patience, gaining fame and fortune as he scaled the ranks through sleight of hand. He travels the whole of Sorneith, performing for all to see. It is common to hear an eager hatchling begging their parents to bring them to his shows for their birthday, but the hatchling is often left unhappy as the admission prices are simply too high. But Prelude is not a dragon with a stone heart. It is not wealth he is after, but recognition. Upon hearing the plight of the little ones, their fate oh so tragic in their innocent eyes, Prelude gives them special invites to his show with a cheeky wink and a smile. The bright grin on the recipient’s face is reward enough for him to continue this practice. Prelude also holds a fierce grudge against XXX, and their abrasive arguments turn into fully blown attacks if not broken up with haste. The subject of their arguments: what is considered real magic. Each fights for their own trade, and sneers at the other’s. Prelude at XXX for complacence, and XXX at Prelude for trickery. It’s the only time Prelude ever loses his mild temper, he is not easily shaken, but somehow XXX never fails to get on his nerves. Both leave seething and sharp-tongued after their squabbles are forcibly put to an end. These episodes often prompt Prelude to retire to the peace of his alcove and sip a cup of chamomile to clear his head. His familiar would sit by his side in companionable silence, and together they would look out at the busy streets through the windows. |
