______ There has only been one time in Akilah's life that the Skydancer has ever needed another dragon for comfort or anything even remotely resembling support. It certainly wasn't when she was born and then left her nest and family to explore and it has never been since she first came across an angry Skydancer that was much larger than herself, who then promptly scooped her up and brought her back to the Shrieking Lashers to train and hone her skills in sneaking about. Although just barely an adult dragon, she trained and got stronger and faster under the insight and guidance of her teacher Pinja who was bound and determined to craft her into an excellent fighter and scout for their clan. She thrived and learned all that she could from the crotchety dragon, becoming a skilled scout that could fight to defend herself and any around her without the loss of life or limb. Akilah loved her clan and it was obvious that the female warriors that lived so close to the water loved her as well, until it all fell apart at the seams. Out on a routine scout, the Skydancer caught sight of two dragons, a Nocturne and a Spiral that were both out uncharacteristically during the day. Unnerved, she warned the clan just before the violent uprising that ended in the death of her Queen whom she had adored. Angry and willing to resort to violence as a means-to-an-end, the scout rallied a group of fighters to her side and fought back against the pair, only to be crushed beneath them.

______ Locked away to languish with her sisters and fellow warriors, Akilah was despondent and broken, just as many of those in the low caverns were with little sunlight and barely enough food to sustain them. They weakened and rotted, forgotten thanks to being forced out of sight, save for one Spiral named Onaskellis, who did her level best to keep up their spirits. At least as much as she could, being the dungeon master. It wasn't until a small Mirror named Mara appeared in the darkness, standing in the center of the room and looking at the cages that housed so many former fighters, that things began to shift and change. Akilah spoke to her, welcomed her even as a respite from the weakness that had befallen herself and her sisters and began to answer any and all questions that the little hatchling could ask her. It was not long, only a few days even, though the dragons kept locked away could barely tell the passing of days, that a revolt happened. Onaskellis threw her long body through the cavern and unlocked all of the cages, calling the former fighters to action as they realized their freedom, and all that physically could fight instantly revolted against their captors. Fighting their way into the sunlight once more, Akilah and the other fighters took back their clan and stood behind Mara as she was made Queen. Though it was their new Queen that decided where they should go, the dragons had their say on whether they wished to be there and were given the option to decline if they wished. None did and so the Shrieking Lashers, broken and weakened but unbowed, slunk into the Shadows to recuperate and grow strong enough to fight for their original way of life. Though Akilah's eyes glow with Light, she scouted the way into the darkness of the Foxfire Bramble and found the best place for them to build upon, guiding her clan with the light that had grown out of love.
