Observations & Notes: Yennefer was found by our Ice Flight ambassador Firn during one of his journeys home to the cold Southern Icefields. She had been banished by her Clan with nothing more than her Pearl at hand, a certain death sentence in this harsh and unforgiving environment. When he and his Guard Fir found her, she was on the brink of death, starving and almost perished by the cold. She was delirious and Fir had to carry her all the way back to the Forgotten Sanctuary. When the fever finally broke, she was left frail and weak. Unfortunately, our Mage and Healer Fujin is more absent than present these days, gaining fame, glory and loot for the Clan’s reputation. So only Kieran and myself were left to try and nurse her back to health. With her pale white skin and light runes, she seemed more like a ghost than a living being. Yennefer was very reserved, almost shying away from any courtesy she was offered. I think she feared we would react the same way her old Clan did and throw her out again. But with all the other Runecatchers buzzing and messing around, she soon discovered we are less superstitious and hostile towards magic than she was accustomed to.
I think Yennefer is one of the most powerful Runecatcher I have encountered yet. She can “steal” the powers of another Runecatcher she touches for one day. If she decides to use her ability, the other Runecatcher is left devoid of his or her powers. She can also use this ability on other mages, though to a lesser extent. Before she was able to control her ability, a simple brush against her could instigate the transfer. Her former Clan thought she was cursed, or worse doing it out of spite. Thus, they exiled her. But here, we are eager to study all aspects of magic and we are even frequently getting volunteers from her fellow Runecatchers for our studies. Some are eager to know the potential of their invoked powers (as Yennefer’s Runes are invoked, the transferred abilities are, too), but some are also grateful to be relieved of the burden of their powers, if only for a short time. I myself am astonished at how skillful she masters any ability transferred to her.
