D R E A M E
THE FOUNDER

”LOVE, TRUST, AND SELF-SACRIFICE”

Origins - This can be anything. Where’d they come from? Where will they go? Have they had a boring life? Or an exciting one?

Personality - This is where you put the odd stuff about your dragon. Hobbies, traits, weird quirks, etc.

Mate - Let’s hear about your dragons mate! Or maybe their mates? If they have no mate(s) then feel free to brag about their friends! Or perhaps complain about their enemies?

Clan Role - What does your dragon do for a living? Are they a hoarder? A merchant? A magician maybe!

Dreame's Beginnings
STORY BY MAGICMAKERROSE

The little Fae awoke on a spire of the Crystalpine Reaches, dazed and confused. She could not seem to remember anything about herself, not even her own name. All she remembered was a strange dream, in which she followed five lights into the Starwood Strand. So, she decided that she would call herself the only thing she knew- Dreame.

Dreame set off on an adventure, venturing across the Crystalpine Reaches, going days without seeing anyone. She was a young dragon, in a strange world, and she had no idea who she was. So, it stood to reason that as soon as she came across a clan, one that was welcoming and kind, she was more than happy to stay. They were a small group, not more than 20 dragons large, but they treated her like family, taking her on hunting trips, keeping her well-fed, and giving her friendships that she would not forget for the rest of her life.

But there was something strange about this clan. They refused to call her by her name, and many of the clan’s leaders did not even acknowledge her. The only important dragons that would talk to them were the clan’s most elite warriors, who took them on hunting trips. She spent almost all of her time- eating, sleeping, and living- with a small group of other dragons that were relatively young, and also did not have names. They did not come from the clan- They had come from all across Sornieth, paid a small sum of treasure to live in this clan. Most of them were not even sure why they had come.

The dragons, like Dreame, were not pretty, not in the least- They had not been blessed with good genes or matching colors, and many talked of their parents who were just as ugly as they. Despite this, Dreame encountered love among these dragons. He didn’t have a name, but she gave him one- Sandstorm, for his hide was the color of dusty sand, but his strength was as fierce as a storm. He was a Guardian, and his charge, a jar of salt, given to him by his mother before he left his clan. They lived together, peaceful, until one day, Dreame and her band of ugly dragons were brought before the clan, and pushed to stand atop a tall spire of crystal. They were confused, and scared. Nothing like this had ever happened before. As the clan’s priest began to speak, it became abundantly clear what was happening- They were being exalted. They had all been tricked into joining the clan and becoming stronger so that they would be worth more when they were accepted into the Arcanist’s domain.

Dreame realized it before the others did, and she flew from the pillar, crashing to the ground, looking up just in time to see everyone, her friends, and her mate included, vanish into a ray of pink light. She was devastated, but she did not have time to grieve. The clan’s priest lunged for her, he was fast, but she was faster, and she took off as fast as she could go. The priest was ready to follow her, but the clan leader stopped him. “Let her go.” He said. “It’s not worth it. There will be more.” As Dreame flew off into the midday, she could hear the priest’s last words shouted after her.

“I’ll get you back, fodder! I’ll exalt you and everyone you love!”
But what he didn’t know is that he already had.
Dreame flew for days without stopping, until she finally had to find rest. She thought she was safe, but every night a dragon seemed to come and wake her, begging her to join their clan. Every clan that appeared friendly turned on her. Dreame narrowly escaped exaltion no less than seventeen times before deciding that something needed to change. Living on the run was not for her. She needed to settle down and establish her own clan. But how was she to gather followers? She could not manage a clan alone. Luckily, the answer came when she happened upon a clan that was exalting not for profit, but because they were starving, and did not have enough food to feed everybody, including their newest hatchlings.

The hatchlings were barely old enough to walk when they were ripped away from their mother to be exalted. They were exalted one by one, until only a single purple Skydancer remained. Dreame could not watch from the shadows any longer. She stepped forward and offered to take the baby Skydancer and care for him. The clan leader agreed, and the two set off. Dreame had rescued the first of many dragons from exaltion- She had found her purpose.

She traveled inland, to a clearing in the Starwood Strand, where she set up a small camp to care for the child. She spent every moment with him, and taught him everything she knew. She named him Archad. Once a week, she would leave him alone at home to go out and look for dragons to rescue from exaltion. She was an activist, a resistance fighter, fighting for the freedom of exaltion by choice, not by trickery or necessity. Many of the dragons she saved she directed toward large clans that she had made friends with, and who were looking for new members. But, every once in a while, she would find one dragon that held a special spark, and she would take it home, and care for it.

She adopted three more Skydancers and one Coatl in this way, loving each of them and caring for them as though they were her own children. She spent the most time with Archad, and groomed him to become the leader of the clan. She was extremely loving, but she was also fearful for their safety. She set up strict rules to discourage dangerous dragons from finding them and joining the clan, namely, the rule that no dragon other than an Arcane dragon could hold a position of power. Dreame did not trust dragons from outside her element, with an exception being Lapiza, the fourth Skydancer, for she was not a traditional Light dragon. Dreame also had a mistrust of mages and magic, and encouraged Archad to use and encounter as little magic as possible. The latter didn’t stick with him, as his best friend became Chryss, the Coatl, who was gifted with magical abilities.

But, while she did love her children all dearly, there was another who she loved more. So, once Archad was old enough and wise enough to run the clan by himself, Dreame said her goodbyes, and then willingly exalted herself. She would find Sandstorm, and bring him home, so that they could live together once again.

Imagine her shock when she returned, a year later, forlorn and lost after finding out about the death of her mate in a dominance battle, only to find a clan that was being run against her rules, bursting with magic, mages, and dragons of all elements.

Archad had some explaining to do.
