Guardian of Golden Arcanist Butterflies

Mila, gifted with the Butterfly secondary gene, always found herself fascinated by the tiny gold-winged creatures as a hatchling. She'd follow them out into the unknown, only getting as far as the Starwood Strand. She knew that there could be untold fortunes, and unknown dangers within the forest there, so she never dared to venture in. However, she saw the beautiful creatures fly in every night, their golden hues persisting even as it grew dark and the trees bloomed. As she got older, the other dragons of Sunset's clan began to mock her for refusing to eat any butterflies brought in, instead preferring other bugs and plants. They laughed at her, saying that there was nothing magical about "those bugs" and that she should be grateful for a meal and eat them. Mila soon grew tired of this, and eventually decided to follow the golden beauties into the Starwood. Dead set on proving their magical qualities, Mila braved the wood, and soon saw that the butterflies were coming from the Observatory, where her lord and creator The Arcanist resided. Not feeling worthy enough to set her eyes upon what she considered to be a sacred place, Mila turned to leave, but heard a voice call out to her.

"My child, do not fret. Instead, rejoice. These tiny golden creatures are yet another magical mystery that I created. Please, for I have seen only you care for them, take these creatures under your wing and see to it that they are protected. This is the task I give to only you. Oh, and if they show any signs of exploding, let me know."

Mila, both shocked and confused, could only reply with an airy "Thanks Arcanist," before flying home. Now with purpose, Mila told Sunset and his clan of dragons what had happened. Though the rest were skeptical at first, Sunset laughingly said that anything can happen if you serve under The Arcanist. Ever since then, Mila has made sure that no Golden Butterflies ended up as food.
