Biography

Siarl is a Ghostbuster

Siarl entered Nature's Race to lv 25 on Greenskeeper Gathering 2017, placed as fourth and received a full set of stones for a Cannon build as the prize. Siarl is bred and leveled by me.

Dragons trained:
Myrsky: 19-25 (24-25 with Haamukipu)
Kataja: 17-25 (with Haamukipu)

This is Siarl's journal from the time he was attending the Defence against Dark Arts classes at Biomagica Acdemy.

Siarl's Journal
Day 1
I am Siarl, and my dream is to become a good fighter like my older sister so I can make my parents and my clan proud! I've been enrolled to Biomagica Academy's Defence against Dark Arts classes to achieve that dream in the best way possible.

My journey started roughly as my tutor is this huge Ridgeback who almost laughed his snoot off when I told I'll become a Ghostbuster one day. Fortunately he then promised to take me along with some other freshmen to see if I was actually up to it. I of course agreed, hiding my doubts of starting my training in the Mire instead of Training Fields...

Training was hard, way harder than I'd ever imagine, but I didn't even make a sound of disagreement as my tutor kept pressing us freshmen on and on and on. The others seemed to give up fairly soon and muttered something about Charms and Herbology, but I know those aren't for me so I must keep on training.

After hours of training I finally got enough courage to attack my opponent! I fired my contuse and... that damned Psywurm dodged! I felt like I could die of embarrassment but luckily the other freshman had passed out and the tutor had the rest of the Psywurm pack ganging on him so no one noticed. I swear to someday seek revenge for the Psywurm for what it did..

Other than that my tutor just said I must collect my own food from now on if I wish to continue. I think he sounded mildly pleased with my progress compared to the other students!

Day 2
Today has been the most boring training day ever! If yesterday was rough today was a total PAIN to endure! I think that Ridgeback hates me as he just grinned and told me to get back to basics with the book "Defensive Coliseum Theory" (By Brilbert Psyhard) and it has nothing, absolutely nothing about using my abilities. It just tells me to peacefully negotiate with the Kamaitachis and Podids, and that Psywurms are friends, not enemies. I don't think the writer has ever encountered a Psywurm. Those totally aren't friends, urgh. I swear that if I caught one I'd make it a nice gift to the Brewmaster of the Academy...

Day 3
So I found out the Defensive Coliseum Theory is written by BRILbert PSYhard, a Brillian Psywurm, to be a guide to the beast clans for peaceful coexisting. Very, very funny joke from that darned Ridgeback. I think he ejoys torturing me with seeking out Psywurm packs on purpose. I think he saw the missed contuse the other day...

Well, at least today I redeemed myself with hitting a Poisonous Toridae with contuse so it didn't hit him so hard and we won! Of course I didn't get thanked, but that was to be expected. I also managed to withstand a Congeal from Mistwatch Shellion quite well today, I feel like I'm finally making some progress!

I heard the Ridgeback talk to other trainers about students needing to take extra classes to be eligible to take the most advanced defense classes, but I don't know a lot about that. Much more exciting were the news that some of the more advanced students could be taken to a field trip to other venues! I hope I get chosen, any other place would be so much better than that Psywurm ridden soggy hellhole of Mire!

Day 4
Today was excursion day, so not much training was done, but we got to see what sort of environments we could specialize in. I must say now that I've seen areas outside of the Mire the future looks much brighter. Especially Bamboo Falls and Redrock Cove were very pictoresque, and I could definitely see myself enjoying life there! (Especially since no Psywurms around...)

The most interesting place we visited were the Ghostlight Ruins though. Old ruins teeming with all sorts of unfriendly beings, hiding secrets I can't even imagine. I feel like my blood is calling me to there to go adventure and unveil the secrets! Those undead-looking monsters worry me a bit, but in the end isn't everything better than Psywurms? And isn't it also said that Nature will always find a way?

Ps. When on evening class in the Mire I stumbled upon a cape. There was no one around to be seen, but the cape looked intact and not dirty at all. Maybe it was left there on purpose for me to find? The Ridgeback wanted to borrow it, but I pointed out it looked like a handkerchief for him so he left it be.

Day 5
He called me Siarl! The Ridgeback called me by my name! Maybe I should call him by his name now that he doesn't call me kid or fly (he pretended that it was a correct way to pronounce fae) anymore. Anton, the Ridgeback is called Anton, called for me after lunch hour (morning training was Mire. I don't think the place ever changes). "Siarl, come here and meet Haamukipu, our advanced class trainer" he told me. You guessed it, yet another Ridgeback it was. But apparenlty I've been progressing very well in my studies as they told only two before me had got this far, Haamukipu himself and a spiral mage named Narrik.

In the afternoon we took the first advanced class in the Kelp Beds. The place was... scary, I'm not ashamed to admit that. The place was under water!! I don't know how the two ridgebacks do it but I didn't like it one bit. Well, maybe one bit, there wasn't Psywurms, hah! We didn't stay there too long as a summer storm creeped on us and made the place too dangerous. In the evening class I got to help some lower class students to cope with the Mire, as I've clearly survived there, it should boost their spirits too.

I feel like Anton is finally seeing my worth as a battling dragon. Especially since I passed both Myrsky (yet ANOTHER ridgeback??) and Kataja (a female wildclaw, pretty snobby) in their training. I've even managed to confuse some of the Common podids and Psywurms to attack me instead of Anton as I can take a hit of their magic better than him. I think he appreciates it even if he doesn't say it. I also dodged a Psywurms attack, hah! Finally got back on them for once!

The cape I found yesterday is perfect, so soft and warm that I can be outside for hours without being bothered by cold or wind. Anton still seems to want it for handkerchief, but it's mine and I'm not giving it up!

Day 6
I made it! I made it in a record time for my home clan! I’m now fully trained! Even Anton said he was surprised, but the other one, Haamukipu, just plain laughed and told he was happy for me! I can’t wait to get back home to tell mom and dad too, they’ll be so proud of now having two capable fighters as their children!

Getting there wasn’t easy though, and the last day provided us with a new nuisance: Croakers! Everywhere I looked, Croakers! Every attack landed, Croakers! Every sound made, Croakers! Trying to move to a new spot, new Croakers! In the end, at least half a dozen followed us home so no peace from Croakers anywhere! Well, at least the meat-eating clan mates should be happy now as those stocks will probably never be empty…

I’m so excited for tomorrow! As I have reached the last stretch of the training program which is a full tour of all the venues to get familiar with the different environments, and then to later decide what to specialize in. I have a strong feeling I know what I want to do (as it won’t include Psywurms…).

Day 7
The tour was awesome! Me, Anton and the other ridgeback, Haamukipu, toured all the venues briefly! The loot was abundant; there were so many hidden caches of treasure, all sorts of edibles and trinkets to gather and we found a massive pile of bladed flatleaves which we ended up trading for a hefty pile of goods from a pretty shady mirror… We, or rather the two ridgebacks, made an effort to snatch as many beasts as they possibly could. There were miths, webwings, owls, jackalopes, fuiran, bakus, puffers and even a few serthis, maren and centaurs who seemed either weak or impressed enough to follow a bunch of dragons.

After the tour, I told them I had decided what I want to specialize in: Ghostlight Ruins. They seemed surprised that a Nature dragon like me would like a place like that, which seemed to attract more unlife than life. I shrugged it off and told them that nature would always find a way around. The Ruins seem to be full of surprises and I’m eager to figure out some of them. And there’s no Psywurms or Croakers or mud there so for now it sounds just great!

In the evening they presented me with gifts for reaching my goal of being fully trained: some from the Academy, some from my clan and some from the two ridgebacks. I would never have guessed a ridgeback would give me a gift, I think it’s unheard of? And I wonder from who they “borrowed” those from…

From the academy I got a set of battle stones to help boost my abilities, which made me overjoyed! It would be so much easier to settle to the Ruins now! From my clan I got a scroll… I won’t go to details (the itching….), but in the end all the blue from my skin is gone and now I’ll blend even better to any greenery! I feel so honoured that they got something so valuable for me! From Haamukipu I got a pair of feathers tied to a string, he said I would need it soon. I didn’t like the grin he made at all… but in the end I tied the feathers on my tail and thanked him.

And finally, Anton presented me with his gifts: the promise that I could keep the “handkerchief” I seemed to be so fond of, even though he saw it first (yeah, right he did…), and a small box that seemed to shake a little, with scratching and quiet yelping coming from inside. As I looked at him for explanation he just laughed and told “Just open it up! You are a fully trained battler, you aren’t scared of boxes, are you?”.

So I opened it up… and out jumped A PSYWURM!! As it leaped towards me I instinctly dodged it and that’s when it saw the feathers on my tail. It stared at them almost hypnotized and then tried to grab them, when I of course moved my tail away. A tag of tail feathers and Psywurm ensued, and the Ridgebacks couldn’t stop laughing. After a while the Psywurm just passed out, rolled over and started snoring. When I was able to inspect it closer it was clear that it was just a puppy, a very young puppy Psywurm. Something I thought I’d never see. Anton told me that Haamukipu had caught it from his request, and that the puppy would help me get over my dislike of Psywurms, that it was an extra class to provide me with something to do now that training was completed. I didn’t like the idea one bit, but agreed to keep the puppy after Anton told me he could also take it back to Mire, smelling like dragons and that with Toridaes around it would all be over very soon.

I’ll never admit it to them, but the puppy is actually kinda cute, curled up to sleep in my cape… Psywurm
