Biography

She knows all too well what it feels like to loose. She had everything before. A love, a family, a faithful familiar that was an extension of her own soul. She lived with all the Fae she could have wished for, tucked away in the safety of the forest.

Plenty of rain, and food, and security. Humans had never touched their sacred soul, and their home had been the last real safe haven for the Fae. It was where everything had been perfect for him. And then it was all torn away.

She should have known, but she was so innocent back then. A totally different soul. Humans had finally found their sacred land, and like humans do, they had destroyed it.

Dragons flayed, killed, her own family among them. Their skins stolen, their scales, their magic, their souls. Anything the humans thought could be used, they took.

Familiars doted the forest floor, spirits cut out of them. Her own lay among them. The only thing that had saved her was the fateful hunting trip she was on. The only survivor had been the familiar of her dearest love. Both lost souls clung to one another.

And so she left, leaving behind the safety that wasn't anymore. Leaving behind the family that no longer lived.

And she traveled aimlessly for years, decades. She was lost in her own thoughts, in her own sadness. She allowed it to engulf her.

And then came Winter. She hadn't wanted another love, hadn't wanted another family. She was too broken, too empty. But very quickly, he had won a heart she thought had long been gone.

She couldn't stay with Fae anymore, tucked in the safety of trees. She was a different soul now. She had a fire, an anger inside her now. She had a desire to stop the humans.

And Winter allowed her that. And foreign to any Fae, he left. The trees, the leaves, the family he had grown up with. Left it all to follow his heart.

And she has given what remains of herself to him.

*****

Rourosia was born in Faldelia, the last large safe haven of the Fae. Once a proud dragon species, they had been hunted nearly to extinction in the wars with the humans. Hardly anything remained of the once-grand species.

The Fae that remained and could find their way made the journey to Faldelia, and began their lives anew their. Hiding within the forest and the trees, they mated and nested and started again. They befriended the local Grouse there, and began a very flourishing dragon & familiar relationship. And it continued that way for generation.

The world slowly began to forget, and largely discount the Fae. Smaller then other dragons, they gained a reputation for cowardice that they had not ever had before. The war had damaged the species as a whole.

It was here that Rourosia was born, and here she met her first mate. He was named Rogri, and she considered her life to be perfect. Both had familairs, hers, Nichi, and his, Bachi. Her and Rogri mated, and produced a nest that contained one, healthy egg.

From that egg hatched Goeff, her dearest son. She loved him in a way words couldn't survive. She never desired anything more. Everything she had ever thought to even want was possible in Faldelia.

It was on one fateful date that she lost it all. Selected to go on a hunting trip, she was gone when the humans attacked. Somehow, someway, they had found Faldelia, and they came armed with weapons. They wanted to pillage, to destroy, to farm. Any magic that the Fae had left, they wanted to take for themselves.

And so by the time Rourosia returned, every Fae had been slain. Their scales taken, their familiars killed. Grouse lay on the forest floor, slaughtered and plucked. Many, many had been taken by the humans for a meal.

It was her that Rourosia almost gave up and gave in. The loss of her young son, along with her mate and familiar nearly drove her over the edge. A dragon can only take so much. The only thing that kept her going, be in day by day, or minute by minute, was the smallish Grouse who limped out of the bushes that day to rejoin her. It was Bachi, her dearest mate's familiar. Together, they took off, and left Faldelia, for nothing remained of it anymore.

She traveled for quite some time, aimlessly, barely aware she did. She had not a thought of her own safety. She found herself in many small Fae safe havens. The small pockets of untouched forest where her species dared to hide, to attempt to live. Faldelia may have been the largest, but where there is a will, there is a way.

She spread the news of the great fall of Faldelia, but found herself unable to stay. The presence of other Fae only hurt her, caused her pain. So she left. Again and again, she and Bachi preferred their pain and solitude.

Until the day she found herself in Vespa, a very small Fae community tucked into mountains very far from where she had been born. It was here she met Winter.

She wanted nothing to do with him at first, for she had felt love before and knew where it ended. She wouldn't let herself feel it again. Finally, though, she couldn't resist him. He was kind, and caring and considerate of what she needed.

She told him that she needed to leave, for though she had grown to love him, the other Fae still pained her. And, totally unusual to a Fae, he left with her. He took to skies and choose her over safety, over hiding, over trees.

And when she told him that she had an anger, a rage, for her lost son, and she wanted to hurt, to fight, to stop the humans, he agreed. So they now attempt to sabotage and to convince other Fae to give up their own hiding and fight back. The age of the human is over.
