Biography

The following pages are transcripts from a diary found in the rubble of a den located in the northwest of the Wandering Contagion. The contents of the diary are of questionable validity and have been kept as evidence and will serve to aid our investigation and search for a cure for the Red Death.

The diary is ragged and the letters are written in common draconian unless stated otherwise.

Entry 1
Ah! It feels weird to write like this, I last had a diary when I was just a hatchling! But Elijah’s been out in the Light flight for some time and I am feeling rather alone since his departure, so I imagine it’d be best to keep my mind at ease, especially now that I’ve got my own hatchlings on the way. Ah, my heart warms at the thought… I hope they carry Elijah’s scales, they are so beautiful under the moonlight…

Kaida and Liehn also had their first clutch not too long ago. They were so happy that I couldn’t help but cheer with them as they counted the eggs. There were three in total. I’m sure our hatchlings will be great friends!

Siveth asked me to forage with her. Last time I went, she made me some wonderful tea. I’ll ask her for the recipe, and then invite Kaida to drink with me.

Entry 2
I woke up sick and Liehn came by to give me some fresh meat. How thoughtful of him! I thanked him and he offered himself to stay, but I thought it better not. His mate needed company and their clutch would hatch in a few days. Then he said me and Kaida could share nests. I wasn’t planning on agreeing but I’ve been so lonely, even with the diary to keep me occupied. I try not to think about Elijah but he’s always on the back of my mind… In the end, I accepted the offer. I’m just a little disappointed because I won’t be able to give them anything in return for all the kindness they’ve shown to me… Ah, once my babies hatch and Elijah comes back, I’ll give them something worth remembering! That’s a promise!

Entry 3
I spent the past few weeks at Kaida's nest. When Liehn is out hunting late at night, we sleep together. It's comforting. On the first night, Kaida could feel my discomfort and asked me about it. We spent most of our night talking about… everything, really. And now it's a routine.

Kaida is very shy. I feel happy that I can see this side of her. She knows so many stories and has the wisdom of an elder. She is also very patient with me. I thought Elijah was the only one who understood me, but I guess I was wrong.

Ah, Liehn is calling. I should go.

Entry 4
Liehn was surprised when I said that I wasn't a good hunter and offered himself to teach me some tricks. We spent our morning training and when we were done, we joined with the rest of the clan for the preparations of our feast. It happens every full moon, when we can join together in favor of the Plaguebringer. It's always such a joy. I'm sad that Elijah won't be with me when the feast comes around. At least Kaida and Liehn will keep me company.

Siveth also asked me to gather fangs and bones for the decorations. I'll help her carve them later when I get the chance.

Liehn and the other scouts will be in charge of the food (like they always have) but for some reason our clan chief opposed this idea.

I am not sure why. Perhaps the Plaguebringer gave him a sign? All of our previous feasts went by smoothly. I can't see why it would be any different this time, and the others seem to agree. In the end, the clan chief relented, and the scouts will go hunt tonight and come back in a few days, when the preparations are ready.

Entry 5
[The writing is shaky and there are a few water stains in the edge of the pages.]
The scouts… they died. I don't know what happened. I was carving bones with Siveth when we saw a murder of storm seekers in the sky. When we followed their trail, we were led to a contaminated area. The ground felt… alive. But in a terrible way. The others they - they were in a hole. We don't know if they fell there or if someone put them there. There were tumors in their bodies and… oh, poor Liehn. His neck, he was… [The writing on this part of the page is completely unreadable]

…and Kaida… Kaida isn't doing well. When she saw him there, she almost launched herself into the hole to be with Liehn again. Me and the others had to hold her back, she only calmed down because I reminded her of her eggs.

She's sleeping now. And she won't let go of her clutch. I think I heard her muttering to herself earlier…
UWR0lhU.png
Entry 6
Kaida's eggs… they rotted. All except for one. We don't know why that happened. I asked Siveth if she knew of something but Kaida didn't even let her come near her egg and even snarled at her. Siveth just bowed and went home.

I'm not mad at Kaida, and I don't think Siveth is, either. She's lost so much in such a short period of time…

I just hope she can recover.
UWR0lhU.png
Entry 7
Our clutches hatched today. I'm the mother of three little boys. They all look like Elijah. He's going to be proud of them.

Kaida is now the mother of a beautiful little dragoness. She named her Lea.

Normally, the clan would gather and celebrate their life but… three other clan members died today. We don't know why. I, too, am feeling disheartened because of this. I can only hope that my little ones will be able to survive this. The only one who doesn't seem sad or preoccupied is Kaida, who is infatuated with her little Lea.

I wish I could share her happiness.
