Allegro was quicker, swifter and a lot more energetic than most hatchlings her age. Although many clan members were confident that they could care for her, they soon found her too much of a hassle to deal with and sent her off somewhere else. After having to jump clans five times, she decided she had had enough and ran off without telling anyone where she was going.

She walked along the edge of the water, wading in the shallows and collecting seashells, decorating herself with them as she saw fit. She did not have to starve, nor thirst as there were many juicy berries and delicious plants growing next to the sands. She did not have to contain her energy. She did not have to tame herself. If she wished, she could stay out playing in the waves from dusk to dawn.

But the waves did not speak to her, nor did it give her any companionship. She loved the sea, but she was growing lonely.

Jian, matriarch of the clan found her gazing longingly at the sea spray bouncing off the cliffside and invited her to join them.

The fae gave her a cave at the cliffside in their territory facing the rocky beach. From here, she could gaze at the sea as much as she wished.
