Biography

Despite what Knock Out may claim, he does not have the title of the best medic in the clan. That would rightfully belong to Ratchet here, even if he can be harsh with his patients. His sarcasm, grumpiness & scolding of his patients can make Ratchet unpleasant, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that he wants to them recover as quickly as possible. (Unless if you're Starscream or a Decepticon, then it's another story)

Ratchet can be hard on himself, especially if his patients don't make a full recovery, thinking he didn't try hard enough or did good enough. It sucks.
