Ghast was born into a prosperous clan within the Sunbeam Ruins with an innate talent for magic. Hearing of the Depths' faction of Scholars, Ghast was sent by his family to The Sanctuary for tutelage on all the elements. Headmistress Ivory herself saw his potential and decided to take him under her wing as her Apprentice and possible successor.

Ghast was a willing student, at first. He learned much of the elements and how to command them. However, once he began dabbling into the realms of Shadow and Plague, he began to notice things. Shadows moving, whispers where there should be silence, a ceaseless feeling of being watched. It began affecting his studies and he started refusing future lessons on the subjects. The hallucinations continued, and to the dismay of Ivory, he quit his studies all together.

The manifestations grew larger, lasted longer, and became far clearer over time. Eyes staring into his own in the dark of night. Claws reaching for him only to dissipate upon contact. Eventually forming a full draconic shape. At first glance one could mistake it for a Skydancer, but looking closer there was only a vaguely skeletal figure held together by the barest hint of bone, scales, and feathers. An apparition surrounded in mist and shadow.

Since then the spirit has never gone away, not truly. Only visible to Ghast, and always watching him with an empty yet piercing gaze. It never speaks, but a faint and indiscernible whispering can be heard in its presence.
