Duchess Athalia is the vicious and terrifying head of House Plague. While many House heads are notoriously cruel, Athalia is by far the most malicious. She is well known for her savage bloodthirst, which extends to nearly everyone in the kingdom. It’s said that Queen Atalya and the other houses are the only things restraining her- it’s no secret that she’d destroy the entire kingdom if she had the opportunity. Athalia was raised in Vanoria quite nearly from birth- her mother brought her and her sister to the Starfall Isles when they were extremely young. Athalia’s impressive magery, which made itself known early in Athalia’s life, quickly drew the attention of Atalya, who sent an army officer to recruit Athalia and her sister into the army. While both she and her sister quickly became fearsome warriors on the battlefield, it was Athalia who climbed the ranks. Her sister, lacking magic of her own, quickly fell into her shadow. Angered by the attention that Athalia was receiving, she abandoned the army and the kingdom, vanishing without a trace. Athalia’s mother, who had never felt at home in the Starfall Isles, also departed some time later, leaving Athalia completely alone. By then, Athalia’s stunning battle records and growing reputation had reached Atalya. The queen offered Athalia a place among the Eleven Houses, emphasizing the life of luxury and extravagance that awaited her. Initially, Athalia was hesitant, as she was reluctant to abandon the battlefield. However, Atalya’s promises quickly won her over, and she was designated to House Plague, the second of the Eleven Houses to be established. Athalia is fiercely devoted to the queen, who has become somewhat of a mother towards the Wildclaw. However, she cares little for the other members of the kingdom, and is easily the most unpopular member of the Eleven Houses. However, no one dares to speak of removing her, as her powers are far too deadly to make the idea even remotely possible. Thankfully, she has been tempered by Duchess Ophelia in recent years, although no amount of debate will ever quell Athalia's craving for violence. |
