Biography
Hirwen Former King "You killed my father, Anisian. An eye for an eye." The fierce and war-hardened Hirwen was once the deadliest warrior of the clan. Wherever he goes, his quietly domineering aura follows him and silences all in his vicinity. But don't be fooled-- he is no dragon to be feared if you are on his side. Almost every dragon in the clan will attest that Hirwen is the most loyal, self-sacrificing, and resilient dragon of this age. He's saved more lives than he's taken. But war has indeed had its affect on this once-fearsome soldier. Hirwen rarely leaves the castle and Victoria, his daughter, is one of the only dragons he is close to anymore. He is said to suffer from night terrors and sometimes goes days without eating. He doesn't say much, but what he does say is well-thought-out and usually quite significant. Though his health is declining, Hirwen's mind could still be considered sharp. |
The Twenty Year War, which began on behalf of the murder of Hirwen's father and then-king Tarzan, marked the twenty years Hirwen was ruler of the Pearlbourne clan. It stood in stark contrast with his shiny and well-rounded upbringing, and coming out of it, Hirwen's personality was extremely different. His daughter Victoria was only seven years old when the war began, so he was no longer afforded time to spend with her and take care of her. As a result, Victoria spent most of her childhood increasingly estranged from Hirwen, and their relationship suffered because of this.
Because of Hirwen's tactical brilliance, the war was finally won two decades after it had begun, and peace was restored to Pearlbourne. Following this, Hirwen didn't know what to do with himself anymore. His generous contributions to the war effort had earned him nearly unanimous support to become Clan Leader in place of Anisian. However, Hirwen, permanently scarred physically and psychologically from battle, was no longer interested in leading the clan. He forfeited the throne and Victoria was crowned queen. Victoria also won the election for Clan Leader, probably due to proximity. This would have never happened before the war, as most clan members had been opposed to the royals having any power, but war brings an influx of new thought. Hirwen, exhausted from the post-war politics, permanently retired. His current hobby, though he never maintains interest in any of them for long, is pottery. Hirwen's familiar is a Red-Breasted Hainu named Mars. Mars is a relatively new edition to Hirwen's life and is probably a replacement for the Red-Breasted Hainu Hirwen fought many battles alongside, Jupiter. Hirwen puts a borderline obsessive amount of time and energy into Mars's care, but none of the royal servents or even Victoria have been brave enough to call him out for it. |
