FIRST MEETING

You don’t see her at first, but you certainly see the gleam of silver wings, and purple eyes. It is a moment before you realise that the shadows are masking her, protecting her from view. A large golden dragon stomps out of the bushes, glares at you, then adds, in a booming voice, ”I suppose you want to see my clan?” You have no choice but to enter, for rejecting an invitation in an unknown land (or perhaps even known) is letting yourself fall prey to the strange creatures that huant the land.

The entrance is ordinary, simply what seems to be a bush of thorns. It is inside that looks spectacular. It seems to be a hollowed-out cavern, the type one finds with the sound of water, yet there seems to be nothing. Various routes lead to various directions, and pulsing all around are red witchlights. She laughs when you ask her how the cave was created. ”Water may not be necessary for the creation of places such as these, though I do admit, there is some water over there.” She seems amused by her own words, which doesn’t make any sense to you, as a crow perches on her shoulder and croaks out a small tune. It looks… off. The crow’s form flickers, before melding into the shape of a small drake, then to nothing, the wisp of darkness floating back to where it came from.

An ever-shifting black portal lies at the back of the cavern,. The edges are jagged, then smooth. It dilates and expands. And inside the portal, a golden-masked creature waits there, red eyes glowing, staring at you balefully, before disappearing again. Upon noticing your stare, the Guardian adds, ”It leads to a galaxy without stars, and if its Master is merciful, it leads to a place where two-legged creature battles another with bizarre creatures. Do not go in there- your physical body would be sliced up into paper-thin slices, the spirit world being too thin for a physical entity.”

“What is this?” you ask. She is silent for a few minutes, head tilted towards the sky as if asking another’s permission.

Finally she turns towards you, and says, ”This is Giratina’s Cavern, otherwise known as Draco Inanis. You are free to enjoy your stay, but I doubt you will find us again unless It wants you to.”

ABILITIES
  • It’s a curious thing, how the Voice and her seem to communicate, not through speech, not through action, but silently, smoke rising from her metal eye as she does.
  • Whether she goes, shadows follow. Tendril-like darkness, likely a blessing from the Voice follow her everywhere, dark enough to be mistaken for the Shade but always with a tint of red at the ends. They protect her, look out for her- after all, the Voice does want to protect its Vessel.
  • The souls of the newly-deceased are clearly visible to her, different colours for different lifestyles. Rarely has she seen a soul fully-red- these are the truly bloodthirsty fellows.
  • Her talons, almost always out, seem to be coated in some hard, metallic, gold material. One slash can tear through hardened leather easily, perhaps even metal.

ABOUT
Like the part of the Tao symbol she is named after, Yang is fiery, reckless, and often has a somewhat bizarre sense of humor. Having not found any Charge, she uses it as an excuse to travel to different lands, trusting her mate, Yin, to care for the Clan in her steed. She doesn't have a leaderly aura at all, but is very warlike and suprisingly, quite strategical, though rash outside of it. She has never cared what others think of her- in a way, she is self-absorbed, but cares heavily for her family, in her own ways.

As a hatchling, she knew no-one. Her parents had abandoned her amongst the glowing mushrooms. Though it was not as difficult surviving here as the Plagueland, the Darkwoods (Which was what she called it at the time) still had slithering tentacled creatures that never met the sunlight, which would be just as happy to rip out a dragon's heart and eat it. It was her Guardian diet that saved her life. She survived on a diet of plants, bugs, and the occasional blind fish from the dark waters.

As an adolescent, she enjoyed fighting. Her Guardian skin protected her from attacks while her claws ripped the life out of her attackers. She never knew what her species was meant to do- Instead of killing, they were meant to be Protectors, guardians. Her life was a twisted mockery of that. One time, after defeating a dragon, she discovered a Solidscale Chest Guard, later adorning it with talons and the horns of the defeated.

One day, it went too far. She was found by a shadow of a dragon, near dying, since one of Yang's eyes had been torn out, and her wings were ripped into shreds. The dragon towering above her was a grey Imperial with red-black eyes, with massive, jagged, golden wings that towered above her. Imperials as large as this one was a rare sight these days. When asked her name, the Imperial merely smirked in amusement, answering with a My name... It is many. You may call me Renegade.
The mysterious dragon tended to her injuries. She replaced her missing eye with an orb of gold. The torn cartilage in her wings had been replaced by silver replacements, but she still had scars where bone and leathery skin combined. All took place in a large, cavernous, underground den, with a dark swirling portal leaking dark wisps at the back of the cave.

On the third week of being saved, the Guardian asked a question.
"Who are you?"
"Like you, I am a shadow. Such an irony that I chose the form of one of Light's children when I arrived, when I am clearly the opposite."
A pause."How did you arrive?"
"When the Shade broke the barrier, it allowed my kind to enter this world. You may know them as Pokemon, or Diagla and Palkia, my siblings."
"Then are you going to help the gods battle the Shade?"
A tilt of the head. "Maybe. For now, I am simply observing. I have met Lady Showbinder before, and she seems like an interesting deity. If I am going to pledge my alliance to anyone, it will be her. But now, little Guardian, I have a task for you. This cave we are in, guard it with your life. Be my eyes, be my wings, be my ears. Recruit others with special abilities like yours."
She vanished. For a second, Yang thought she could see a rearing red-eyed dragon, all six legs tipped with talons and a mask of gold on her face...

From then on, she rebuilt her life. The Voice speaks to her all the time, giving advice, asking questions, or simply talking and being sarcastic.
The Portal at the back of the cave is still open. Red eyes peer through.
Please don't step into it. You never know what's lurking... Be it the Gloamglozer or something else...
