Biography
cherub / toxin / glimmer
this is it jinx, you can do this. just a little bit faster...
"hey, jinx!" a loud, cheerful voice broke jinx's concentration, the midnight spiral tumbling through the sky and landing on the ground with a soft thud.
annoyed, jinx slowly brought himself a few feet from the ground, narrowing his eyes in annoyance as he glared at the bright noodle.
"oops, sorry jinx!" the female noodle chirped sheepishly, but in jinx perspective, she didn't look very sorry- in fact, she looked as if she wanted to laugh. "i just wanted to let you know that i found one of those rare bugs that you really like, and that i bribed her to give me a few extra for you."
jinx's annoyance faded, and he found himself excitedly grinning, swooping down to her. the contrast between them was great- here she was, bright, loud, and out there, and there he was, cloaked in dark shadows. that's how it always was- him gracing the shadows of other dragons, always overlooked. except for her. she acknowledged him, she actually spoke to him and...knew him.
did that make them friends? jinx hoped so.
jinx? jinx- hello? you still with me?" her voice drawled out, and jinx blinked to realize he had spaced out, and was staring at bright, shining eyes that were a bit too close.
"yeah, sorry i just spaced ou- wait, do you hear that?" jinx started, but broke off when he heard the distant sounds of battle cries. sharing a look with his friend, they both flew up desperately, going against the wind in a hurry.
their clan was in chaos when they got there. jinx wanted desperately to run, to save himself, but his companion thoughtlessly swooped in to battle. jinx couldn't just leave her, could he?
no, he couldn't.
by the time he made up his mind, she was in battle with a raging beast. she was pinned down, angry tears streaming down her face. the beast held up a paw, sharp claws elongated, and without warning, lashed out. she let out a cry of terror, eyes squeezed shut, and at that exact moment, jinx swooped down in front of her. the beast landed a blow to jinx's eye, and he cried with pain. but he felt relieved. he had gotten hurt, so why had he felt so relieved? because she was alive.
but there was no times for thank you's and running away, because she was already out of sight, fighting to protect hatchlings. jinx himself had gotten distracted by fighting.
sure, he was cast away and overlooked, but this was his clan. he wasn't going to let them die before he proved himself to them.
by the time the battle died down, the sun had risen again. jinx had been drawn out to the forest, away from the clan. he quickly flew to his clan, just to find destruction. no sign of life was to be seen.
and there, amongst the destruction and death, was a bright, young dragon who stayed by his side. the only one who didn't overlook him. the only one who acknowledged him.
and she was dead.
jinx's eyes and throat burned. he couldn't stay, he had to leave. he felt weak and bloody and bruised, he wouldn't be able to travel far. but he had to get away.
so quickly, he fled from the remains of his home, to find a new one. or at least, to hope to find a new one.
