Saffron - The Creator, Serpent Queen

"All puzzles are solvable, darling. Some are simply more difficult than others."
--
The Maze started as a game. The traps were rather terrifying, but no one actually got hurt. There were safeguards. Few could find the way out before the time limit, and those that did were regarded with awe. Most of the time it was empty, but they would open it up at parties as a form of entertainment. It was designed by a beautiful genius dubbed “the Creator,” a skydancer with runes that shone like the sun. She loved jewelry, gold, and all things shiny, filling her pockets with the proceeds from her little game. The Maze began above ground and went downwards, filling the ground underneath the Dreamscape clan’s lair. The caverns were beautiful, horrifying, electrifying. It was a wonder beyond wonders.

Then someone died.

It was said to be an accident. There was no evidence saying otherwise, so the case was soon closed. But there were rumors. Rumors that the deceased had insulted the Creator, and she had made him pay the price. Things were never the same after that. The Maze was officially closed, but sometimes adventurous dragons would creep down to the entrance and peer inside. A few descended into the darkness. They did not return.

The Creator was drawn to Nemesis, a pearlcatcher with runes of gold like hers. He had secrets, and so did she. Together they formed a pact. Are they in love? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But they can help each other, and so they work together, a glorious king and queen of corruption.

It is said the Maze has mind of its own.

Can you hear it calling?

Can you feel it beneath the ground as you sleep?

It is waiting for you.
