Himemiko

Lace isn't the only thing that binds Himemiko, for she exists as her arrogant mother's ornament. She is little more than a pretty doll for her mother to dress as she pleases. Any personality she might have had as a hatchling has been conditioned out of her, now she qualifies more as a mannequin than a living dragon.

To an outsider she might appear completely mute, for her mother has trained her never to speak in the presence of other dragons besides herself. This is mostly out of Spoopy's selfish desire to keep her daughter's angelic voice to herself, and yet another method of ensuring she never gains independence. If one is lucky, on especially silent nights, one may be able to hear Himemiko's soft, gentle voice drifting through the wind as she sings a mournful hymn for her mother.

Trailing along behind Spoopy, a slave to her every whim, Himemiko garners no small amount of pitying stares from her clanmates. But none dare to step in for fear of dealing with her obnoxious mother or worse yet, risking worsening her abuse by angering Spoopy.

On the rare occasions that she is seen without her mother, her vacant, icy stare and lack of speech is often more than enough to dissuade most dragons from approaching her. Sometimes though, just sometimes, she can be seen together with Skarlet, the two finding kindred spirits in each other through their silence. Of course they never say anything to each other, but in the moments she shares with Skarlet her eyes glitter almost imperceptibly with life and ghosts of what might have been emotions flicker across her face. Though she appears dispassionate when not around Skarlet, Himemiko has been seen to display a slight fondness for various types of marine life, particularly koi and pufferfish.

Perhaps there is hope for her yet.
