Magik

Magik’s parents were the flashy dragons of the lair. While their white scales blended into the ice and snow of their territory, their runes and apparel allowed for others to see them from miles off. Strangely enough, her father was a brave fighter for the clan despite this disadvantage on the battlefield. It was this flashy appearance they had that perhaps drove her towards the cooler, duller colors. In time the young dragon found that the night sky was filled with dark blues, blacks, and purples that soothed her pale eyes. At first she just loved staring at the night sky for the sparkling diamond-like stars and calming emptiness around them. Eventually, she began doing it because she found she enjoyed studying them.
As she grew older Magik began writing notes and drawing on scrolls of various changes in the stars, meteor showers, and constellations. She read past astronomer’s findings that were in the clan’s vault and even spoke to some of the oracles in her clan about how they used the moon and stars to tell prophecies… Not that the pearlcatcher entirely believed what they said was accurate. The only drawback to Magik’s research was the clouds that were almost always covering the sky while the snow falling from them would bleed the fresh ink on her scrolls if she wasn’t careful. She tried to make do with what her clan offered but eventually came to the decision to leave the clan for a new flight with clearer skies. Earth seemed like a good place with its open land- plus there weren’t eye burning crystals there like Arcane had.
Her move led her to a new clan that valued the equality of all creatures and was rather peaceful. In a way this Earth clan reminded her of her home and Magik felt at home right away with them. The sky seems much broader and clearer in her clan now than it ever did in her old home. The stars were so sharp looking and there almost seemed to be more of them than ever before. Her research has gone further than she’d ever considered possible and Magik knows it won’t be reaching an end anytime soon. Her work has even caught some attention of the hatchlings in the clan, which she gladly shows and explains to their wide-eyed stares at the starry sky above. Her findings were one accomplishment she loves but being able to inspire potential future astronomers is a bonus she takes joy in doing and an accomplishment in itself that she is able to do so.
