Biography

Mahkenuk, hunter/guard

The old warrior and hunter.

Lived on the fringe of his birthclan's territory in the Snowsquall Tundra.
Was pretty aggressive and eager to fight.
Liked proving his skills hunting.
Since mellowed out in after losing his eye.
Mostly keeps to himself now.
Despite hardly talking besides pleasantries, he and Moonghoul have a quiet respect for each others' strength.
Hunts to provide for the clan, him being one of the few strong and brave enough to navigate the forest with the permission of the druids.
Initially against training Heron, seeing a bit of his past self in the guardian's demeanor.
Eventually gave in to the guardian's persistence and agreed.

"I want you to train me," a deep voice said from behind Mahkenuk.

Mak didn't even spare a glance back. He knew it was Heron - none of the other island-dwelling dragons came out this far to the forest to pester him with such obnoxious persistence.

"I've seen you fight," Heron continued, as if anyone was listening.

Mak kept his attention on skinning the deer he'd caught earlier. Icewarden's frost, would that fool not take a hint?

The ashen-dappled guardian maneuvered himself into Mak's peripheral vision. "You know how to fight... even with your eye-"

"What about it?" Mak warned with a low growl, flicking his tail in annoyance. He could ignore the guardian's incessant harassment all day (he'd done it plenty of times before), but he had no patience for ignorant remarks about his missing eye.

To Heron's credit, he had enough sense to step back and give Mak some space.

"You fight well," the guardian murmured.

Mak was tired of this conversation. "You've already said-"

"I saw you save Suvashj from that chimera."

He didn't see the relevance of the comment. "I don't get what you are-"

"Even missing one of your eyes."

"I told you not to-"

But the guardian could not be stopped now.

"I haven't been able to fight since I lost my own!"

"How am I supposed to help others-

or protect my charge-

when I can't even-

protect myself!"

"I don't care about your-

sad story, I've heard enough-

you need to learn to-

help yourself!"
