B I O G R A P H Y

The youngest of the three, Erasmus has always had his two brothers to look out for him. His lack of confidence made learning difficult, but Isaak and Athan made sure to reassure him and tried their hardest to help him build some faith in himself. It didn't always work, but they never gave up on him.

When he wasn't practicing his fighting, his favorite thing to do was to sing with his brothers or hang out with his best friend, one of the rare female perytons, Xenia. In time, his feelings for her grew. He grew brave one day and kissed her, an action that she happily returned.

Life couldn't be happier, but then war struck and everything started going downhill. He was not prepared to fight so he stayed behind, but it was hard knowing his brothers were going off to war. It was painful and lonely, but one day a messenger came to collect him, telling him everyone needed to fight. Changing into battle form, he collected his weapons and flew towards battle, trying to be as brave as his brothers. They needed him, so he would do everything in his power to be brave like them.

Upon reaching the fighting, his body filled with fear. He watched the peryton who came for him get struck down, then the enemy was upon him. He held his own for as long as he could, but he was not ready for such a brutal fight and was quickly struck with a death blow.

_Life_

____The pretty peryton danced around Erasmus, his voice filling the air with a melodic song. He and Xenia spent a lot of time danging and singing, but only when it was the two of them. Except for his brothers, he had trouble singing around anyone else.

The song got done, and his voice stopped the same time as his friend's movements. "You were wonderful, Xenia!" And beautiful. She was always beautiful.

"Thank you. The singing you do with your brothers is really paying off." She swayed over to him, causing his cheeks to heat up.

"I..thank you." Normally he wasn't this nervous around her, but there was something on his mind, something he had the sudden urge to do. Closing the gap between them, he pressed his lips to hers, holding the kiss for a few seconds before pulling back.

Xenia blinked in surprise, but suddenly a smile came to her face and she wrapped her arms around him, rest her head on his shoulder, and nuzzled his neck which had become warm thanks to the blush spreading through him. Life was good.

_Death_

____Locked in combat, the next few minutes were filled with the sounds of metal against metal. At one point, Erasmus lost a wind-and fire wheel, so he replaced them with his katars, now in a closer combat with the enemy. He was bleeding from multiple wounds, and to his satisfaction, so was the manticore, who was having trouble fighting at such close range.

A scream tore through his throat when the sword suddenly sliced across his wrist, rendering that hand useless. Now that he was fighting one-handed, the enemy quickly got the upper hand, and when he felt his back against a cliff edge, all hope left him. The rest of his weapons were wrestled from him, then there was a mighty roar and his head was bashed into the side of the cliff, once..twice..a third time. Blood flowed down the side of his face, the pain in his head so intense that he did not notice the manticore tearing off an antler. By now the hold his enemy had on him was the only reason he was staying in the air. His eyes tried to stay on the manticore, but his vision was fading.

“Brothers, I’m right here..”
