EMISSARY

A wanderer by nature, Tao was traveling through the Wilds one afternoon when he came across a rather enormous Guardian clad in beaten and busted iron armor and more scars than he was able to count. She was covered in streams of blood from her fight with the large, equally bloodied red-eyed Imp still standing across from her. Tao watched the skirmish with a critical eye, hidden from the ferocious pair in the branches of a tall tree. As they expended themselves with wasteful blows and bellows he couldn't help but be impressed by their tenacity. In truth they were learning and adjusting quickly to the other, the product of quick and intelligent minds.

When Musa and Folgers had at last lost the last of their energy and collapsed, Tao flew down and clucked his tongue disapprovingly. "Even whelps like you should know better than to fight without discipline. Look at yourselves."

These days Tao has forgone the mantle of teacher, both his former apprentices having long since surpassed his own skill, and become a messenger for the clan he indirectly helped forge. Musa still harasses him with "threats" of a position of higher status but he enjoys the simple work well enough and has no real need for more space or titles. He's content running the gauntlet of the Coliseum from time to time, showing off his uncanny ability to dodge and evade as his favorite pupils learned to do so long ago.
