He charts the stars for stability. Others may think he became an Astronomer because he simply loved astral bodies so much and wanted to study them, understand them, marvel at them. Others think, perhaps, that he hears the music of the stars like some proclaim to, and is drawn into the night like a moth to a flame. Some confuse Astronomy with Astrology and assume he's looking into the future like some Night-Sky Water Flighter seeking guidance from the deeps. And others believe it's just because he originally came from the Starfall Isles; he must love stars, right? The reality is nothing so exciting. Remmy is anxious. Suffers from Anxiety, actually.... It's just that the world is so big and full of change, and it all moves so fast, and he's so very small... And sometimes it just feels like he's being swept along with it regardless of his own feelings on the matter. But the stars are relatively stable, or at least distant enough to give him that illusion, and so he charts them. Measures and plots their minuscule movements. To the hundredth decimal. These teeny-tiny measurements even smaller than he is. The stability gives him a sense of control. At least, until people ask him about the stars. It seems that the more he learns about them the more he feels that he knows nothing. Remmy always second-guesses himself if he doesn't know absolutely everything about a subject. And how does he know if he knows everything? He learns something new every day, so obviously he doesn't know everything. How could he possibly answer their questions? And even if he could answer their questions, he's not the best at communicating his thoughts to others. To start with, Remmy is a Fae. He has difficulty communicating at the best of times. But even beyond that, Remmy thinks in pictures and math equations. He has a difficult time taking his very visual thoughts, forming them into words, and delivering them to others. Add to that his anxiety and a very slight stutter when he gets nervous, and... well. You get the picture. Which is exactly what got him into drawing, actually. Remmy likes to doodle. Though he's not overly artistic or particularly skilled, he finds it calming as well as helpful in getting his thoughts across to others. People tend to be surprised at how articulate he can be with just a few lines on a page; complex theorems coming to life before their eyes. Even more surprised by how passionate and enthusiastic he can be to finally have an effective means of communication. Getting him "drawing" about his hobbies is probably the only time you'll ever see him so animated. At least, until people point it out. And anxiety strikes again.
