The realm in the Shrieking Wilds that Thalestris came from is a dark, cruel place. It's a realm in the Viridian Labyrinth that is built on survival of the fittest. The moment Thalestris opened her eyes, she knew that there was a greatness in her that was beneath other dragons. She knew that if she set her mind to it, she'd be in control of everything and anything she saw. Her mind was whirring with ideas of how to control those she met, and as soon as she could she murdered the rulers of her clan, taking up the position of tyrant.

She had dragons go out and find her a male dragon of amazing strength and prowess. They returned a few years after, a large imperial in their midst. Apparently he had murdered half of the search crew whilst they were trying to convince him to join them, and Thalestris was quietly satisfied with him. She immediately set out letters to 300 female dragons in the area, sending them to the male imperial and letting him mate with all of them, whether they wanted it or not. Yet the program was not to her liking. The dragonets were too soft, too weak for her tastes, and in a frustrated rage, Thalestris killed her entire clan with not so much as a blink.

She spent the next years traveling, searching for a new start with her project. New dragons, ones with her same mentality, The Scarred Wasteland was the place to go next. So that's where she headed, talons covered in blood and the grin of queen out for success. It was then that she met Styx whilst the mirror was out on one of her "pack runs." The mirror was wary of the nocturne, but without Hanson to give her a foresight, she wasn't sure what to do. She ended up acting on impulse, however, and allowed Thalestris to follow them home. Upon returning, Hanson was surprised to see that he couldn't see Thalestris in the near future. He assumed the dragoness was safe, and told Styx such without revealing that his clairvoyance was failing him. All was going well.

Styx felt a sudden kinship with the small nocturne the longer the two spent time together, and had Thalestris wrap herself around her neck as a necklace so that the two would be closer. When Styx leaves for her hunting trips, Thalestris is hung from the bones above Styx's carrion throne in the center of the clan, like an ornament. Hanson and Cloudstormer are less than happy about the strange, near parasitic relationship that the two female dragons have developed, Thalestris would have to dispose of them sooner or later if her plan was going to work. Thalestris feels the same kinship that Styx does, surprisingly, and has a gut feeling that the super-race of dragons will appear in this clan, if she waits patiently enough.

According to the mythological Greek Alexander Romance, Queen Thalestris (Ancient Greek: Θάληστρις; fl. 334 BCE) of the Amazons brought 300 women to Alexander the Great, hoping to breed a race of children as strong and intelligent as he. According to the legend, she stayed with the Macedonian king for 13 days and nights in the hope that the great warrior would father a daughter by her.

However, several of Alexander's biographers dispute the claim, including Plutarch, a highly regarded secondary source. He mentions fourteen authors, some of whom believed the story (Onesicritus, Cleitarchus), while others took it to be only fiction (Aristobulus of Cassandreia, Chares of Mytilene, Ptolemy I of Egypt, Duris of Samos)

Plutarch also mentions when Alexander's secondary naval commander, Onesicritus, was reading the Amazon passage of his Alexander history to King Lysimachus of Thrace who was on the original expedition, the king smiled at him and said "And where was I, then?"

The story is rejected by modern scholars as legendary. Perhaps behind the legend lies the offering by a Scythian king of his daughter as a wife for Alexander, as the latter himself wrote in a letter to Antipater.
