Alras is the one who founded the commune, doing so quite accidentally during the course of his great search. It took him time, but he eventually came around and realized that the clan itself is his charge. While he cares deeply for the clan and is the original founder, he really had no intention of becoming the leader in the way that he has.

His parents are both Light-born, but after Alras left on his search he chose not to return to the Sunbeam Ruins. Not out of any animosity, he's just found his place in life and has no desire to leave it. You'll be hard-pressed to find him outside of the Worldedge Wetlands, much less the Viridian Labyrinth.

Those who know Alras well describe him as kind, patient, and fair. He started out very unsure, especially when younger dragons chose to look up to him, but has come into his own and now feels confident in his ability to maintain the commune and protect his clanmates. While he may be kind, he's no pushover.
He isn't particularly loyal to any deity but appreciates the Gladekeeper for providing the commune with their home and occasionally pays tribute.

He didn't ask the other clan members to call him boss, they just started doing it of their own accord. It's difficult to make him angry. If you somehow manage to set off his temper, the best thing to do is leave the area as quickly as possible before things get dangerous for you. He is mates with Nizi and co-leads with her. All of his children have left on their search, but he still sends letters anyway.

He loves to swim around the wetland/ocean climate his clan is surrounded by when he isn't stressing about managing his ever-growing cohort of fellow nature-loving dragons. Despite always having some new problem to deal with, he's surprisingly almost always seen with a calm disposition. He makes time for each member even when the lair is burning down around them. He also still writes his parents but as mentioned before he rarely leaves the area, much less for pleasantries. He spends any other spare time lounging with Nizi or tending to eggs/hatchlings he recently sired.
