Fearless... Protector... Warrior

Sometime in the weeks that followed, the two adult dragons determined to develop their own Clan in this unforgiving wasteland. There were no other Clans in this region, and they found out why. Whoever had been here last devoured every last scrap that remained. As Rauru and Kyrith patrolled their borders, they found even beyond their boundaries there was little to scavenge off of. It was no wonder they relied on Kyrith's Steam Gyre to bring back morsels of food for them.

After a while, they came across the bones of large birds, which Kyrith fashioned delicately into helmets for the two of them. Rauru decorated hers with crimson feathers to match her dappled complexion, while Kyrith placed blue feathers neatly into his to bring out his strong, blue wings. The two drank out of puddles that collected, hunted and scavenged for whatever remained (leaving behind most living creatures to reproduce for later hunts), and continually reshaped their territory.

It was finally becoming a home.

That was when two small hatchlings stumbled in. Rauru had been the first to spot them beyond their borders, being tormented by the ravenous gyres that watched the skies above. Without hesitation, she bolted across the border, fending off the flock of large birds on her own, screeching and chasing them off into the skies. When she landed, the two frightened hatchlings were shuddering uncontrollably and staring at her with wide eyes.

Kyrith appeared not long after, alerted to the sounds of the battle that had occurred moments before. He didn't fail to notice the two tiny dragons near Rauru's feet, the larger of which tentatively stepped towards her, and the smaller of which was clinging to the fur on the larger hatchling's back. The guardian circled around the three. "Come on, bring them back, they'll be fine."

Rauru nodded and led the hatchlings to the safety of their border, then to the cave that marked the interior of the Clan. She nudged the small dragons inside and then turned to Kyrith. "What do we do about them?"

"Take care of them, of course."

"I knew you'd say that."

"Then why'd you ask?"

She hesitated, then shifted her gaze to the two sleeping dragons. "I don't know."

Kyrith sighed, then nudged her shoulder. "Go on, I'll watch."

"You always do."

The large dragon growled in amusement. Rauru quietly crept to the two hatchlings, then wrapped herself around them. The larger dragon was a Tundra dragon, the smaller was a Fae. She watched the two silently. They couldn't have traveled far, not at their age, they must have come from another Plague Clan. She sighed and set her head down near them, watching Kyrith until she finally fell asleep.
