Mate to Dawn


Looks after the permababs with his mate Dawn. He's also a chef, although... Ailyn has mostly taken that title now though. She's a much better cook, but Arisen likes to think his dishes have heart, if not always amazing taste.

He also helps mend and has a passing mastery of stitching toys together and carpentry (He replaces Fau's wooden toy horse when he's broken it. Saying he's fixed him up magically, and because he's all healed all the stickers are gone). Sometimes he helps Vanyali make paper when she feels up to it, but most of the time he just makes sure to keep her paper stocked up.


He wasn't originally going to be caretaker but Falcor came to the clan, and they couldnt turn him away. He'd hatched somewhere in the forest Arisen thinks. What an ice egg was doing in the Starwood, he hasn't a clue. He just knew he couldn't turn him away. His mate Dawn was weary at first, didn't really expect to be looking after a baby dragon just yet. She grew to love Falcor too and while he doesnt call them mom and dad, he's their son all the same.

The others came after, lost or abandoned or alone or found.

Audon was found on their clans travels back to Starwood. they had moved to lightning to see if it would suit them, but the harsh working hours of the Lighting Diety had demmanded too much. So they travelled home.

They found Sora right before they reached their old clan homes, almost abandoned but maintained by the Matriach's Son Audurna, and Audurna's second, an older coatl named Jasper, and his daughter Opal. Audurna ceeded power to his mother, and they brought Sora with them. Audurna took a shine to small Sora. Sora never spoke of where she came from, and only wistfully spoke of her own parents sometimes. Faded whispers on quiet nights, tears sobbed in corners where she hoped no one would see. Audurna took back his position of Clan scount and happened across the remains of a travelling clan, two looked like Sora, and he quietly told the Clan leaders. Afterwards they asked if she would like to set them to rest, and how she would like to do that.

Iio came to the clan lost, and not really remembering anything. He later said he lied, he remembered being big. He was cursed by a Harpy(?) witch, after his clan raided theirs. Just for sport, for fun for blood. Thats the kind of clan his was, dark, wanting, bloodthirsty. She cursed him to be helpless, to know what it's like to feel small, and from that he returned to being a hatchling. And while he remembered who he was he didn't understand, living somewhat in a blissful state of ignorance. Probably not what the witch wanted for him, but something Arisen is greatful for. He told them he didn't want to be big anymore, so he stays forever young, cursed to be small and little and vulnerable. Iio hates the sight of blood, and faints at even a drop. Arisen feels for the Harpy witch sometimes, but is it better to leave Iio like this? Arisen doesn't know, but Iio asked him to not go looking. And so he doesn't, and worries about when Arisen old, who will take care of Iio? Will he remain like this forever?

Teuila came to them in a storm, blown across the light territory, crash landing nearby. They nursed her back to health, and sent scounts out the light territory to search for her clan. It was fruitless, as her clan had been devastated by the storm. Most of the leaders didnt survive and no one wanted to take Teuila in, her own parents had died, and her remaining family members in the clan were all leaving to find better lives. No one wanted to take a hatchling with them, especially when they werent close. The scounts returned with the bad news and Teuila took it in stride, she became good friends with Sora. Dawn took a shine to her, as she an eye for colour and liked trying to help make the clans outfits. Teuila found her place in the clan, and later on she became good friends with Audon and Vanyali. And she dresses up Falcor and Vanyali whenever she can, or after making a new outfit. She also sometimes makes smaller crafts, like friendship bracelets, socks, horn adornments, crowns, just whatever small little things she can try make to give to her friends.

Fau was hatched in the clan, Adurna had found an abandoned nest, with the rest of the eggs rotted away. Only he had held on, wanting to be free into the world. Fo worried that he wouldnt hatch at all, but Arisen and Dawn were fierce. The matriarch of the clan allowed them a month before the egg was deemed too far gone. He hatched on the second to last day, so very tired and cold from hatching. his siblings took it upon themselves to warm him up and the proceeded to protect Fau in a cuddle pile. Fau has not known the hardships of his other family, but Sora counts that as a good thing. Him and Falcor get along seriously well, but there is a lot of moping involved (“my toy has ultra powers”, “well my toy has DoublE ultra powers”, “nu-uh, my toy has ultra ultimate powers”)

Vanyali’s guardianship was given to the clan after she took a shine to Audon and Teuila. As a traveling performers her parents asked if she wanted to live with the other hatchlings, and asked if Istalri would take another hatchling. Istalri said yes probided they use their clan as a stopping point through Arcane, and to bring stories from beyond the forest this clan resides in. Vanyali occasionally sees her parents, and everyone is pretty happy with the arrangement.Her parents are dismayed to find how much she likes weapons training, but Vanyali has her heart set on becoming a battle bard, with all the teeth claws and steel to match. Amare, his mate Benessa and Vindr all make sure she gets some training. Vindr is a bard by trade but is not as proficient with most weapons, he excels in archery which Vanyali likes the least.

Celandine came to the clan as a stow away on some supplies an ice Imperial came to trade. The Imperial left before they knew he was in there! Cel (Cell) was found among the goods they had traded, with no way to get into quick contact with his clan they have been looking after him since.

An old hatchmate of Amare made the journey to track him down. He had heard Amare got out, managed to buy out his lifegold share. He had come across a smol sandsurge not far from their Hireclaw clan and he didnt want his way of life for the hatchling. It is weakness to show such care, but he knew that if he tracked Amare down, maybe the little hatchling he'd gotten attached to would have a better life. He was right. He said goodbye to Tempest and gave her her name. For even though she's a fire fire dragon she has the energy and chaos of a storm. The last thing he said was live well. Arisen feels for Tempest, but she has taken comfort in her name, "I carry a part of him with me, because my name was also a part of him before he gave it". Arisen doesnt try to father Tempest as he can never replace Tempest's father figure, but he makes a cool uncle, kind of? Tempest regularly hangs out with the Wildclaw trainers, says it helps her feel at home. Amare sends coded letters to his hatchmate sometimes letting him know how Tempest is doing.

Cosmic arrived to the clan in what could only be described as an imploding explosion, bends everyones brains to think about. He doesn't know where they came from before that. Were they teleported? Materalised? Arisen doesn't have the slightest clue. Neither does anyone else but the Kverst has tried to uninvasively figure out where theyve popped out of the void from. Cosmic has a knack for making things explode or be set on fire so most of the clan have taken to making sure they is in Kverst's vicinity so hopefully the fires are put out. Kverst has taken a shine to the lil guys and has been trying to show them some beginner alchemist things, hopefully things will start exploding less. Both heads are named Cosmic, and to distinguish them, the clan has started calling the blue maned head C-ohs-mic and the green maned head Cos-meek.

Nova and Stella were hatched from the same egg. It looked strange, half blue, half orange split right down the middle vertically. Or at least Arisen assumed it was vertically. The egg had appeared in the inventory stash, did someone leave it? Arisen doesn't think so. There seemed to be a number of similar eggs appearing in random places in other nearby clans, but it took their egg a bit longer to hatch. Word got around quick about the new ancient dragons that had been discovered by the wider Sorenith community, who lived deeply in the mother tree in nature. Arisen hurriedly scrapped together as much information as he could about the ancient species so the dragon inside the egg could be cared for. Strangely two! dragons hatched out of the egg with different elements and similar colouring to the halves of the egg. They were almost completely opposite in temperament. The orange dragon Stella, was very quiet and reserved, and her blue twin brother Nova was the most outspoken sociable hatchling ever. They are almost inseperable and while very rarely Stella gets Nova to quiet down sometimes and Nova gets Stella to join in. Nova has been trying to get Stella to play with the rest of the hatchlings, and Stella has been trying to get Nova to calm down and stop overpowering poor Audon while playing. Stella, Audon and Vanyali get along extremely well, while Nova gets along with Falcor, Cel and Fau. Cosmic is a wildcard all the time but strangely the twins like hanging out with Cosmic.
