A hood shields her eyes
but you still see the sparkling gem from underneath
Powerful, and almost merciless
Her parents pretty much disowned her

She'd never rule the empire
Because she was different
...A little more human than the rest

They said she was cursed

But being the king's daughter
She was adorned in small gems
Gold ones this time, instead of the humble sapphire
They said it was a new tradition

But she read up on her history
She knew they did it because she was cursed
Gold was evil. Sapphire was not

So she turned to being quiet
With no friends for miles
Hushed whispers surrounded her
"Will she ever sacrifice to the true god of sapphires?"

And that night
She went out
Her bow in hand

The bow that was too human for their liking
The bow that was cursed
The bow of which they'd never name

She went out and hunted that night
Ready to prove her father
Who she could become
And who she truly was

But bigger than that
Was a need
A need to be the best in the sapphire god's eyes
That was all that mattered
Was to be accepted
By the one true god

On the outskirts of her enemy's town
She tried to kill one

...She failed.

She walked a journey
