Biography
Night
Night was once a proud and ambitious leader of a distant clan. Her clan survived in the crumbling remains of an ancient city that her ancestors called home, proudly passing down their leadership to generations to come. When Night inherited that honor, time had consumed the city into ruins, making it seem more like a historical landmark than a homey settlement. Night was very proud of her heritage and and the history behind the city she was responsible for, so she was determined to bring the place back to it's old, former self with bustling business and lively streets. Only the city square seemed to be inhabited by dragons and kept in decent shape, but they yearned to follow Night's footsteps and bring the clan back to its former glory.
Night and her crew worked all hours of the week to restore the old city. Many treasures from former denizens were unearthed from the ruins and even written records of their ancestors were discovered. Hope seemed to be shining on the old clan, but tragedy struck when a mighty earthquake shook the remains. Perhaps a worker had tried to steal a sacred heirloom? Whatever the cause, the spirits of the ruins were upset, and the earthquake destroyed everything that was left of the standing buildings. Even many of Night's workers met their fate in the violent earthquake and Night felt like she had nothing left to rule over. She stood from the old throne room, staring sadly at the dusty devastation that was supposed to be her proud home. Fearing that her ambition would only further upset the spirits, Night gave up her dream of restoring the city and ran way to find a new calling.
She now resides in Sokuna, where she sells and trades the remains of her hoard from the city. She'll even buy things from locals and travelers alike. She prefers to stay quiet about her failed attempt at restoring her home, but she still keeps the royal garments that she inherited, feeling like they're the only connection she has left with her family. She gets rather offended when anyone asks if she'd be willing to sell or trade them. Nobody has ever seen Night without her royal mask, so nobody knows what she looks like.
...
Well, that's what she'll tell you, anyway. Don't listen to a word she says. She's a scam artist who will sometimes have a genuinely valuable item for sale, but will usually just sell you worthless junk for ridiculously high prices. Her headdress is just some artisan-made doodad that she bought from an art fair. The local Sokunites kind of wish she'd go away.
