Loud and clueless, Yumoto isn't an obvious choice for any sort of position of responsibility, much less over the familiars of an entire clan. But he has an almost supernatural way with animals, spirits, enchanted objects, and other sentient creatures, and he finds it fun to take care of all the pets and familiars the clan has collected. His role doesn't extend to the beastclans, however. Members of the beastclans who live with the clan go to their flight representative for help, or to Jaenelle if they have no elemental magic.

In his free time, he plays with the hatchlings, who often see him as more of a larger hatchling than an adult. If he's not doing that, he's swimming in the river that leads to the Sea of a Thousand Currents or hanging out with his friends and listening to them talk, even though the conversation itself usually goes over his head. A lot of the time, it's not clear to anyone why he's friends with dragons like Io or Kinshirou, but for whatever reason, they seem to have decided they like him.

RELATIONS - part of atsushi's large friend group; also good friends with sachiko, nova, and jaenelle; on friendly terms with most of the clan, except for those who find him exhausting or obnoxiously loud
