My dearest Comet,

What to say to you my love, for there is so much to say and so little time. When I saw you hatch from your egg, when I saw you look around for the first time, I knew in my heart that you were special, and you quickly became the most important thing in the world. I saw galaxies in your eyes, stars on your skin, and the magical power of the universe flowing through your veins. Such beauty do you posses, such power, yet how it curses you.

I must tell you a story my dear, one that might shock you. I came from the heavens, I was a star that fell from the sky. I do not know how, but I am not just a dragon, I was a gift, and one that had to be carefully hidden. My clan kept me safe, the took care of me when I was still a hatchling, and eventually they even provided me with children, with you. However, while I lived I have kept my true power hidden, I have learned to control and use this wondrous light for good, for kindness, for love. This is where you come in my dear, for you have this same power swirling inside of you. Even as I watch you grow, day by day, I see your struggle, I see the power of the worlds trying to break free.

But oh, how strong you are, my baby, how strong you will become.

Already your skin, tough as iron, to hold in your spirit, and glowing silver ruins, depicting the birth and death of the universe that has been reveled to no other. Your eyes, did I mention your eyes? They seem to steal my heart every time I look into them.

But...as strong as you are my love, as much as you have adapted, it still cannot be. For while my power alone was silent enough to remain hidden, our combined aura was not. They found us, they found you; there was nothing I could do. Please, my love you must understand. You were in danger, and as a mother I could not let that happen, even if it meant never seeing you again...even if i will never get to see my daughter grow up into a proud, beautiful dragon.

So my dear, that is why you are in a new clan, with new dragons and without your mother. It is not that I would abandon you, never in a million years. My love for you is like the stars, vast and clear, just shining from a distance. This is so that I might protect you, hide you from the people who might try and use you for their evil plans. I sacrifice your love, all the memories that I will never have, only to see you safe. All I hope is that you continue to grow and to learn your powers, to hold the beauty of the universe in your heart, and that you think of your dear mother from time to time.
