Biography
Dathúil (pronounced Da-hoole) is the Irish word for "handsome".
He is named for his incredible beauty.
Lorcyn was flying through the marshes one night, rain was pounding down, stinging his eyes. He had found all the soft moss he needed for his twins, who were at home, warm and cuddling with their mother in the den. His little girl had hurt her wing during flight practice and he promised her the softest moss for bedding as a treat. As Lorcyn soared overhead a glint caught his eye. Curious he dropped down, his beeline for home momentarily forgotten.
Lorcyn found him sleeping in the shattered remains of his egg, huddled against the cold. Just a newborn hatchling, desperately seeking warmth and protection from the onslaught of rain. Without a moments hesitation Lorcyn scooped up the bab, cradling him in his paws, wrapping the moss around him for warmth. Slowly he built up his fire in his chest and throat, creating a warmth that he pressed the little one against. Sure the bab was safe and warm, he set for home again.
He was greeted by his babies, excited to see their Da, Arawn smiled at their enthusiasm before warmly rubbing her head against his shoulder in greeting. Upon seeing the small bundle he cradled she froze, and looked up in surprise. Lorcyn looked back at her, imploring her to understand. After a moment her face softened into a loving smile, and she gave a slight nod and took the newborn in her claws, stroking his sleeping head. Later that night, she and Lorcyn lay together in front of the fire, the twins curled up in between Lorcyn's front legs, sleep deepening their breaths. The newborn curled into his new siblings' sides, murmuring lightly in his sleep.
"What should we call him?" Lorcyn asked, gazing down lovingly at his hatchlings. His mate tipped her head thoughtfully then purred.
"He's so handsome. Maybe we should name him for what he is. Dathúil. Our handsome little boy."
Lorcyn lovingly nudged her with his muzzle, and she relaxed into him.
"It's perfect."
And that was how Lorcyn and Arawn came to take in Dathúil, raising him like their own son.
