Many don’t think much of Fractle. She’s small, shy, and mysterious. She doesn’t speak many words, in fact. Some dragons make fun of her. Her size, and shyness gets the best of her. Yet, they don’t know her backstory. This is the story of Fratcle, and how she became a wonderful fighter, and mage.
A long time ago, Fractle was born. She was only a few hours old, until her mother was exalted to serve as a higher cause. Her father had to take her under his wing. Many don’t know this about her, but her father is Baldwin. Fractle and Baldwin were devastated. What must they do without Fractle’s mother? Baldwin was scared.
He decided to make a brew shop for others to make items. He created many new items that many bought. He thought it was time for little Fractle to learn how to make items only they know how to make. She was eager to start right away. As soon as she heard of this news, she flew for joy. Baldwin chuckled a little. Fractle came back down, asking the question, “So when do we start, father?!” she said jumping with joy.
Baldwin brought fractle to his brewing pot. She curiously looked inside, but was quickly pushed back by Baldwin. She was startled. “Don’t touch that!” He yelled. Fractle looked confused. Baldwin just sighed. “This is what us dragons call ‘Muk’. It’s the main liquid us brewer’s use to make items and other needed things for battle dragons. It’s very hot, and devourers anything it touches.” Fractle nodded, understanding.
Baldwin started showing Fractle the main parts of the cauldron, and how to heat it up. Baldwin told Fractle to get some rest for the night so she could be prepared for the big day of brewing something for the first time.
She had a mysterious dream last night. Something she couldn’t explain… The dream had dragons fighting a war. Fractle was in the middle. One ferocious dragon approached her, with death in her eyes. She widened her mouth, ready to bite. As the dragon lunged for the strike, Fractle covered in fear. The dream ended. Fractle jumped in fright, as Baldwin was at the side of her bed. “Ready for brewing today, my little crystal?” Fractle shook her head, trying to shake the thought of the mysterious dragon. “Y-yeah…” Fractle responded.
Baldwin looked concerned, but smiled. “Alright. Let’s get started!” He said. Fractle was right behind his tail. “First,” Baldwin started. “We must research dragons. All dragons are big and small in size. Some require different helms with the shape of their head.” He told her. Fractle nodded. Baldwin walked over to his brewing table, and pulled out a dusty old book. He blew on it, and dust started to arise. Fractle sneezed. “It’s a little dusty.” He said. “A little?” Fractle remarked. Baldwin chuckled.
“Alright, let’s see here…” He said, as he placed the book on the ground. Fractle sat next to him, intrigued. She peered into the book. “Here!” He said. Fractle jumped in surprise. She regained her scenes, and looked in the book. The page read, ‘Plentiful Breeds’. “Plentiful?” Fractle asked in confusion. “It means that there’s many of them. The most common breeds.” Baldwin replied. Fractle nodded. She looked down at the book as Baldwin flipped the page. It turned to the breed called, ‘Fea’s’. “That looks like me!” Fractle said with joy. Baldwin nodded and responded, “It is.” Fractle’s smile went away as soon as it started. Baldwin frowed, and put his hand on Fractle. “I miss her too, my little crystal…” He responded. “But she’d want us to continue what we started.” Baldwin smiled. “Together…?” Fractle asked. “Together.” Baldwin nodded.
Fractle looked back down at the book. Baldwin turned the page. It read, ‘Tundra’s’. “Tundra’s are interesting,” Baldwin said. “They’re body is made of fur, unlike scales. It’s like their deity, or leader, called Icewarden. He’s the founder of the Ice clan.” “Ooooohhh.” Fractle said.
The next page was turned, and said ‘Guardian’s’. “Guardians are from the water clan with their deity, Tidelord. They are great for gattle, and guarding special items.” The next page was revealed, saying ‘Mirror’. Fractle gasped at the sight of the dragon. This was the type of dragon in her dream. “Now mirrors are RUTHLESS.” Baldwin explained. “They come from Plague clan, from the deity Plaguebringer. She is a trickster, and heartless killer. Her fiends kill anything they touch.” Fractle was now terrified. “Mirrors are excellent fighters in combat.”
Fractle felt better once the page was turned. Through the day, Baldwin discussed every breed of dragon with Fractle, and soon showed her the different helm sizes the breeds needed. She soon saw the abrupt size of the Imperial dragons. Her mouth was wide open. “Imperials are the biggest dragon. They are named after their size and royalty.” He said. “NOW. Time for your bed, little crystal.” Baldwin told Fractle. Fractle nodded, still terrified of the Mirror after her.
She slowly dozed off, and her dread started again. The mirror was back, but something was different about her eyes. She had more rage than ever in them. Her shadow-like eyes glowed. She raised her sharp, dagger-like claws, and began to strike. A dragon flew in front of Fractle, and took the blow. “Urgh!” The dragon replied with the fury of the blow. Fractle’s protector turned around, and spoke. “Are you alright?” The dragon asked. Another mirror. But she was different than the other. Her eyes were blue, and calming. “I’m fine.” Fractle replied, in shock.
Fractle looked at the poor dragons leg. Blood was dripping down onto the ground. “But… Your leg!” Fractle replied in shock. “I’ll be fine.” She responded. The dragon turned to face Fractle’s murderer. The blue-eyed dragon snarled at the attacker. “Toothless…” She said. The mirror smiled. “So you do remember me…” The dragon called Toothless, replied. “Of course I do. Now go find some other dragon to kill. You can’t go off killing helpless juveniles!” The protector responded. “Wait till Shadowbinder hears about this…” Toothless responded. She flew off to her clan.
The nice dragon turned to Fractle. “Toothless is someone to never be trusted. She kills everyone on behalf of her leader, Shadowbinder, leader of shadowclan. I’m BlackWolf by the way.” “Fractle.” Fractle responded. “Thank you for saving me, miss!” Fractle said with joy. “No problem!” BlackWolf relied. “Now you might want to get out of here before Toothless comes back. She never gives up a chase.” “Alright. Fractle agreed.
Eventually, Fractle awoke, Baldwin at her side. “Ready to finally make something?” Baldwin said excitedly. “YES!” Fractle said happily. She bounded over to the cauldron, ready to start the day.
Fractle still couldn’t get over the fact of her savior, BlackWolf. She shook the odd feeling away. She just wanted to start a normal day like any other. But little did she realize that it wouldn’t be the same. She knew the basics and sizes of all dragons. Baldwin let her take over for today. He kept watch as she took orders, and started to craft. She came to the next order. “What can I make for y-” Fractle started to say, but was immediately shocked. It was Toothless. All Fractle could say, was nothing.
Toothless growled in a low, strong voice. “YOU.” She replied. Her eyes became nothing more than death. The female Mirror leaned over the table, wanting her revenge. But in the corner of her eye, she saw Baldwin. She slid back down, knowing she’s being watched. She left off a little growl. Her eyes staring into Fractle’s. “I want a Carapace Arm apparel.” Toothless said. “And make it quick! I don’t like waiting…” She replied.
“Y-yes.” Fractle said, fear in her voice. Toothless can feel the fear racing up and down Fractle. It seems like she consumes my fear… Fractle said in her head. “Wh-what clan is this f-for…?” Fractle tried to say.
“I don’t like questions.” Toothless snapped. Baldwin peered over, looking suspicious why this order was taking so long. “Fine.” Toothless replied. “Shadow Clan. The strongest of all clans.” Toothless told Fractle. “Eventually, the shadows will rise.” Toothless whispered. “The light will perish from the land. The waters will become muck. And mother, will be happy.” Toothless let out a smirk.
Fractle gulped. She could feel the fear rolling down her face. “So about the Carapace…” Toothless said, breaking the silence. Fractle shook her head, snapping out of the fear. “Ah. Y-yes.” She replied. “I-I’ll get that right up for y-you.” “Good…” Toothless responded. “I’ll need it.”
Fractle went straight to work, trying to forget all that happened. How? How can she be REAL? Fractle wondered. Her eyes widened. BlackWolf!! I’ll find her for help! She decided. She made the Carapace Arm apparel, and set it in the front, waiting for pick-up.
“Dad?” Fractle wandered over to Baldwin. “Fractle!” Baldwin picked up fractle, giving her the biggest hug. “My little brewer! You’re all grown up now!” He set Fractle down. She gasped for air. “I’m sorry. I’m just so happy for you!” He smiled so wide, it seems like it’ll get stuck.
“Dad.” Fractle responded. “Yes, my little crystal?” Baldwin asked. “I… I need to go on an exploration.” Baldwin’s smile faded. “What?” “I fear that the world is in moral danger. Shadowclan… They have plans. And they’re not good.” Fractle spat out the words. Baldwin just, smiled. “Alright. I’ll help you.” “REALLY?! Oh, thank you thank you THANK you, father!!” Fractle jumped with joy. “But the shop…” Fractle looked at Baldwin. “I’ll take over.” He smiled. He started to walk away. Fractle followed.
“Where are we going?” Fractle asked, confused. “The the selection pool. I must take you there for selection of your clan.” Baldwin replied. “What?” “It’s where new dragons go to decide their leader, and who the worship and follow.” “Oooh.” Fractle understood.

After a long walk later, the two of them finally reached the selection pool. “Go on.” Baldwin urged Fractle. She stepped forward, and looked back at her father. He nodded. SHe turned around, and walked over. She peered into the pool. The water suddenly rippled, once Fractle’s reflection was over. She startled, and jumped back. The water rose, higher and higher. It towered over Fractle and Baldwin. It splashed back down into the pool.
Fractle hesitantly walked back over. She slowly peered into the pool. It showed pictures of elements. Words slowly emerged under them. 11 of them. Water, Light, Arcane, Plague, Fire, Earth, Wind, Nature, Lightning, Ice, and shadow. Fractle felt weird when she saw the word ‘Shadow’ emerge from the darkest parts of the water. She looked through each element, carefully evaluating each one.
She remembered the eyes of the dragon that saved her, BlackWolf. Blue like water. Fractle remembered. She looked for the water element. Found it! Fractle replied. She stuck out her claws, and touched the element on the water. It showed a picture of the leader of the water clan. Tidelord. The water rose and formed into a screen-like way. It showed Tidelord in a recorded message. His voice low, but calming.
“Greetings, fellow dragon. I am the leader of water clan, Tidelord. I am glad that you joined this clan today. May the waters forever be in your favor.” The message ended. Fractle was in shock of what just happened. She leaned over the water again, wondering if something else would happen.
The water was so blue in color. The water seemed to say something, lighting up as it spoke. “Dip your face into the water, Fractle.” How does it know my name?! Fractle asked herself in shock. She looked concerned, but slowly leaned into the water.
Fractle placed her face under the water, and felt something change. “Now look into your reflection, and notice the new you.” The water spoke, calmly. Fractle did as she was told. She leaned out, and looked into her reflection. She gasped, in surprise. He eyes were deep blue in color, and she seemed to know the water more than ever. “Now go forth, and achieve your new dreams.” The water spoke.
Everything was now calm. She looked back at her father. She smiled, and a tear rolled down his eyes. “You have your eyes like your mother.” Baldwin replied. “Oh, dad…” Fractle replied. She ran over and gave him a big hug, tears rolling down her eyes. “I’ll be fine, my little crystal.” Baldwin told her. “Now go save the world.” He replied as he looked her in the eyes. Fractle nodded, and set off on her journey.

A few days later, she saw something in the far distance. What is that? She asked herself, squinting her eyes, hopefully able to see what was ahead of her. A mystery figure came walking towards her. She then realized who it was. “Blackwolf!” Fratcle yelled with joy. She darte to her, as fast as she can. She halted when she made it to her presence, and just smiled at her. Blackwolf gassed in surprise.
“Fractle?! Is that you?” She asked. “Yeah!” She replied. “I joined your clan for you! I have some bad news as well.” Fractle said hesitantly. “What is it?” Blackwolf asked with worry in her eyes. “It’s Toothless. She and her clan plan to destroy all life on earth, and be the rulers of everything!”
Blackwolf gasped in horror. “I knew this day would come,” Blackwolf said. “But I didn’t know it would be this soon!” “What must we do?” Asked Fractle. “We fight.” Blackwolf replied. Fractle nodded in agreement. “I may not be the best fighter, but I am the best brewer.” Fractle said.
“Then there’s no time to waste.” Blackwolf replied. “We must make a team of three, and save the world from the darkness that brews in the world.” Blackwold said.
Blackwolf and Fractle set off to find a third member to save the world. They soon found Leatherback, and he joined their team. They now fight the shadows, struggling with each battle, but they never give up. They are a family. Fractle is a dragon of few words, but she fights strong. And this was the story of the young dragon Fractle.
