Castalia was a brilliant child. Magic crackled about her, and she had more control over it than many adults. At the touch of her claw, potions sparkled and became more potent. As she grew, she was on a constant upward climb towards mastery. Until…she was there. By the time she reached adulthood, she could find nothing else to learn. Her powers stagnated, and she grew bored. Sure, she could summon storms and change into the shape of a mouse with a single thought, but what was the point? Did she ever really want this, or had she let her fate be decided by the power she was born with? She felt trapped, helpless. Her emotional state and self-worth had always been tied to her magic, and now that she doubted it, she doubted herself. She became erratic and suspicious, with frequent emotional outbursts. Her struggles encouraged her to look within herself and really examine her personal values and goals, and this was when she discovered her love of helping others. A few times during her youth she had gotten the chance to change the breed or genes of other dragons who desperately wanted it, and she now remembered that it had made her incredibly happy. Using her powers to make other dragons happy felt fulfilling, it felt like what she was meant to do. With this in mind, she pulled herself out of her misery and used her gifts to figure out who would be the right match for a lonely clanmate, and with a bit of magical encouragement, they got together. Now with a career as enchantress and matchmaker, Castalia feels just as brilliant and successful as she did when she was a hatchling, and the other dragons in the clan are better off for it.
