One part handmaiden, two parts apprentice, Anise serves Desca in her quest to become a behemoth-wielding sea witch of unimaginable power. She's watchful, calculating, and incredibly intelligent. Anise uses others' presuppositions about her youth to her advantage.

Privately, Anise is trying to play manipulation upon manipulation, and fears losing control. She aims to learn some siren-songs and spells that will grant her more complete control over others.
