Though his origins are shrouded mostly in a story-convenient mystery, Alastare was once a brilliant engineer who turned to mystical arts in order to reach unheard of heights. He's published multiple theses revolving around intergalactic and multi-dimensional travel, his lifelong dream becoming that of reaching other universes beyond Sorneith - and beyond the material plane. He's ambitious, brilliant, and even if he does sometimes come off as a bit stuck-up - he means well, if "well" equates to "a feverish pursuit of knowledge".

For centuries, dragonkind thought they were alone in this world - confined to one material plane. This was simply not satisfactory to Alastare and the other members of the cataclysmic Andromedus Event - the greatest, most powerful minds coming together in a bid of hubris in order to prove that there is something more beyond their physical realm. After the mysterious Event took place, Alastare became even more of a recluse than he was before, absorbing himself in his work and distancing himself from the other members of the Rift. While they strive to repair the weirdness leaking into Sorneith, Alastare has begun losing himself in his projects...whether or not he's trying to reverse what they've done, or continue it.
