Urijah. The Flamecaller is my light and fire. I remembered whispering my name over and over until it turned into a chant. Urijah.Tasting the sound of each syllable as if each utterance were some tangible substance that I could brush my tongue over and relish in its taste. Urijah. My eyes burned with tears as I finally received the gift of a name. Urijah. I survived the Trial of Fire. I did not die a nameless child. Urijah. I had ventured along the ancient path to the center of the volcano, a task that many had failed. Either they fell to the jaws and fangs of the beasts that lived within the volcano, or they succumbed to temptations put forward by mere illusions conjured by our wise ancestors. Urijah. I had bowed my head to the sacred fire runestone at the center, and thus its emblem had been seared upon my forehead, an emblem I was proud to carry. It had deemed my power and virtue worthy of being a part of the brothers and sisters that guarded the ancient art of making Frostfire, a beautiful spark that burned solely on magic in the atmosphere, requiring no fuel to burn. Weapons forged from its flames could purify possessed dragons and objects. The temperature of the flames varied: the hotter its surroundings, the colder it burned, while the colder its surroundings, the hotter it burned. A secret art that had been passed down generation by generation by the Monks of the Cinder Monastery. Urijah. We welcome you to the ranks of the Monks of the Cinder Monastery. I had called the Monastery home since the day I emerged from my eggshell, and now I was truly a member of this family.

Something was wrong as I returned from a trip down the volcano to fetch water. I smelled it from the air, sensed it from the charged atmosphere before I had even set foot into the monastery. Blood, stained the obsidian steps of the monastery bright red. Scales littered the ground like autumn leaves, red from the violent bloodshed. What had happened? Where were my fellow brothers and sisters, my family?

I found my answers soon enough. Adara, Blayze, Edan, Ashbel, Fia, Ignazio, Golnar...my brothers, my sisters lay torn and shattered all over the place. The fire emblems on their foreheads had been extinguished, their lives snuffed out like the flames on a candle.

No. NO! My family...

Prometheus, the wise Guardian I had looked up to as my adoptive father, lay dying at the foot of the altar of the Flamecaller. Shakily stretching out his bloody, tattered wings by his protective instinct to shield me, too late, for one last time, he spoke his last words.
You are our last hope...
Keep the secret art of making Frostfire from falling into the wrong claws...

The loud roar of a dragon pierced the air. 'I think I've got one!'
The sound of claws scratching against stone grew louder. Mirrors.
Hurry, Urijah, they're coming for you!
Leave and don't look back!

Hastily scrambling out the way I came, I rode the winds like the children of the Windsinger, far far away from the Monastery, fleeing from the thundering echoes of the wild, tribal hunting cries of the swarm of mirror dragons that had destroyed my home. For a day and night, I flew, not daring to stop until I had crossed the sea to reach the Southern Icefields, where I came across the Order of Swallows.

To this day, my heart still burns in sadness, anger and fury at the senseless bloodshed of my former family. Though I have made myself a new home here, I shall never forget the evil done to my brothers and sisters.

Yes, my children, never forget the burning in your heart when injustice fell upon you. Now, young one, fan those flames in your chest into a passion and courage for fighting against those who do wrong...
