Biography
Metallic/Bee/Opal
While the Matriarch of the Clan sequesters herself in her solemn commune with the past and its numerous spirits, there are those of her lair who turn their frigid eyes to the sky. Eridanus has been, from the moment of his birth, a scholar interested not in the world behind the world, but the world beyond the one he calls his home. The stars beckon to him. The shapes of their constellations are his road map to higher understanding. The secrets of the universe are his quarry, but he has fine tuned his research to realize the connections between science, magic, and the paranormal. There are things unexplained which he seeks to record in concise measurements, repeatable experiments, and solid proof.
This has made him a bit of an oddity to his group, who normally eye him with suspicion or pity. They do not understand the things that he has grown to understand and cannot relate to the nature of his studies. In his youth, it made him yearn for those whose lives were centered around science and higher learning. He fled his clan for several months as a gangly youth to the lands of the Arcanist, hoping to find a clan that would understand his interests and help him discover more.
What Eridanus got was more suspicion. With eyes bestowed upon him by the Icewarden, stark white and seemingly empty, he was often shunned if not chased away entirely. It was not until he happened upon a clan of the Arcanist that his Matriarch's clan had done dealings with before. A few of those Eridanus knew best had come from this clan, and he took his chances to see if they would accept him, but he was thrown for a loop.
The dark and shimmering blue-green male wanted entrance into the clan but instead ran into one of its free spirits. She was a creature on the edge of the rules, kind and intelligent. Io was everything he wanted in a friend and a female. Her studies of the arcane had been to explain the way magic and science worked together, that magic was simply science that had not been broken down into its base parts yet. Her formulaic spells and alchemical practices fascinated him almost as much as his extensive knowledge and study of the stars and distant worlds fascinated her.
But Io also wished to explore and meet new clans, and could read the homesickness in Eridanus's heart. The prodigal dragon longed for his home among the frigid floes, but he loved Io's kind and the things they were privy to. After a time, Io convinced him to return to his clan, with her in tow as his mate. She would learn much from Nherva's clan if she lived among them with Eridanus, and he would have his home he longed for and the goddess of a dragoness that adored him.
Look up at the stars son
My father was saying
Now go wish upon one
Then spend your life waiting
The Northern Lights can hear me whispering
Hunter Orion are you listening?
The rings of Saturn circle endlessly
And I'm still waiting
I cast my hope upon the Pleiades
The Seven Sisters who would come for me
They'd fall to earth to grant a child's dream
But I'm still waiting
