Biography

Nicholas was born into a mid-sized Wildclaw clan from the Zephyr Steppes, the oldest child of high-ranking parents. Though he proved himself a fierce fighter, Nicholas found that his diplomatic nature prevented him from mustering the necessary aggression to excel as his parents did in his clan's violence-based hierarchy. Rather than resign himself to life as a low-ranking member of his clan, he bid his family goodbye and left in the hopes of finding a more accommodating mixed-species clan. He crossed the border to the Ashfall Wastes and there met an older Wildclaw, Morning, who was also seeking a new clan. She had traveled from the Tangled Wood, coming from the direction in which he was traveling, and they agreed to explore the neighbouring Tsunami Flats together before going their separate ways. Approaching the coast, they were met by a red Mirror dragon who seemed to be expecting them and offered them space in his lair in exchange for their strength. Both Wildclaws accepted.

As it turned out, Nicholas's new clan was floundering. It had fewer than ten members to its name, splintered into small factions living independently under one roof rather than working together interdependently. To Nicholas, this was an enticing organizational challenge. He immediately set about delegating essential tasks procuring food and defending territory and found himself obeyed by even the clan's founders when he made it clear that interdependence was essential for the clan's survival. Under his supervision, the clan grew and prospered, and he has remained in charge of its organization ever since. He also works on the hunting committee and as a diplomat when reaching out to other clans, and often fulfills whatever odd jobs the clan requires; a daunting list of responsibilities which no less-energetic dragon would be able to fulfill. Of the dragons in his clan, he is especially close to his mate Morning, his daughter Meg and the Skydancer Nathaniel.
