The thing about true victory is that it’s subjective. If you corner a bunch of outlaws, and you kill them, that’s your victory right? Unless of course, they wanted to die rather than go to prsion. The very idea of victory depends on the mindset of the victorious. And even when you win, it’s very likely that you lost. No one knows this better than Victory. She was named this ironically, of course. Her Wind clan was breaking apart, and no dragon seemed to trust its clan mates. Her father, Tidus, suggested they’d give her a name that reflected the horrible state everything was in. And he got his way. They called her Victory to symbolize the one thing they would never have. Over a period of a few years, Victory grew up in her broken home. No one really taught her much or spoke to her, so she figured she could leave and no one would be angry. After teaching herself what she could, she made a tough decision. She snuck out and tried to find a better place for herself. After running away, she survived on her own for a few months before realizing that this was no life. A constant struggle for survival. She knew she had to find a clan, one that would protect and love her, as well as provide for her. So she kept traveling, this time with the goal of actually finding something. She ran into Jeopardy, a young Coatl who was crossing the border into Shadow at the same time Victory was. Desperate for company and seeing the Coatl had recently been in a fight, due to wounds all over her body, she offered her protection to the Coatl, who accepted in exchange for a proper traveling companion, which she soon found in Victory. The two of them ended up developing secretive feelings for each other. Well, said feelings were mostly one-sided. Victory had a large crush on Jeopardy, who just saw Victory as her best friend, and the dragon she could depend on no matter what. But Victory always saw just a little bit more in Jeopardy. |

Victory ended up learning all she could about magic, becoming an excellent mage. But one day, something happened. Jeopardy was trying to teach her how to use offensive spells against opponents, and Victory became frustrated when she made a fool of herself in front of Jeopardy. They got into an argument. Victory had always been a little too violent for her own good, and when Jeopardy yelled at her, and she yelled back, she sort of lost control. She set an offensive spell against her friend, and it was one that left Jeopardy paralyzed with pain. It was the worst moment in her entire life. She would never quite forget the look of hurt in her friend’s eyes. After mistakenly hurting Jeopardy with her newfound power, Victory decided to lock offensive magic away forever. She would never forgive herself for just that one moment where everything mattered, and she had broken her friend’s trust purely by accident. Jeopardy and Victory soon expanded their magical horizons. They became healers together, helping sick and woudned dragons come back from what everyone often assumed would be their deaths. The two of them saved the lives of thousands and thousands of other dragons, and never once did they become proud. Victory was far happier now. She had a best friend, a small family, and a purpose in life that she could really be proud of. After all, helping others had become a huge priority for her after meeting Jeopardy. Some think she just wanted to show off for the pretty Coatl, and those people aren’t completely wrong. Recently, Jeopardy left the clan to do something she claimed was important. When Victory tried to come, Jeopardy pushed her away and ran as fast as she could. She left Victory in sorrow. |
