Biography

The Minstrel |
|
A gift not even the gods could make, one might say – so beautiful and endearing, yet his voice sends shivers down every spine it reaches. Echoing back from every wall it reaches, never drowning itself in the abyss of unspeakable things. If one would be to describe his rather enthralling voice, they would speak of how it is soft to the touch, how it seems to be like the finest silk, even though nobody seems to understand what he is singing, what he might be lamenting about. No one knows for sure what exactly he is, but it doesn't matter – not to him, not to Jeduthun and not to everyone else. Wherever he goes, he seems to bring joy, as he drags faint breezes and a light fragrance of flowers with him wherever his own two feet lead him, wherever the sun plasters itself onto his tan skin. There are things one might question, but Hermesiel does not seek to listen to anyone, wandering on his own path while his hand seems to hold that of his companion. So, is he following Jeduthun? Is Jeduthun following him? Or is there another thing that dragged them away from the Windswept Plateau? One may question this more often than enough, but Hermesiel does not dare to let a single word slip from his dry, torn lips. Almost, as if this subject was a secret to keep. Even while being the more mature, calm one of the duo, he never fails to surprise anyone – often, he is seen telling others what they mustn't do, however he is no one to stop any unfortunate soul that wishes to run off, deep into the forest from where they might never return again. He roots for them, even if he does not speak about it. Every lamp he lights in the lair is for those who aimlessly wandered off, containing bits and pieces of memories he might have with them – or just made up ones, scenarios that could have been. It might come off as vain, or weird eventually. Can anyone really blame him? Because after all, he experiences guilt for letting them go, not stopping them from their own, foolish ideas. Maybe, they found a place somewhere else and did not get lost? Another subject he has no answer for. Sometimes, he loses tracks of things – sometimes, he feels like he is trailing of and acting a bit to vain; being no good for anyone looking at him, glueing their eyes on his every move. Maybe, they expect too much from him and his weary body – maybe, they just want him to sing for all eternity, until his voice breaks and crumbles and dies within his throat. There are soft melodies hitting his ears, even softer hands on his face and a pair of green eyes, so similar to his own, staring it him as if he was the only light that existed in this dark place, calling itself the Tangled Wood. Often, this is everything he needs to calm down again, to be content with himself – the reassuring of Jeduthun, the only person that is with him at this point; the only person smiling at him, telling him he is enough for this forsaken world. Maybe, being a little bit different is not bad after all.
