Adalys (”noble light”) is the prince to inherit the Kingdom of the Northern Lights. A light elf son, to a light elf family, in a light elf’s castle, he grows up isolated from the world and the pains of the mundane. In the face of an imminent transfer of power, the young light tries his best to learn to lead. He sees himself a benevolent king, welcoming to all, who treats outsiders like friends. He suffers the dire consequences of his idealism, soon leading to the brink of a war with kingdoms of the Deep South. Amidst the restlessness, he hires a certain severe and serious dark elf as his Shadow… And Sören turns his world upside down. From his guard, he learns, grows and gets shapen, the hard way.
