Things seem to go... wrong... around Jin. Inexplicable things. Maybe you bake a batch of peanut butter cookies a hundred times the same way, but Jin shows up for the 101st batch and suddenly your cookies are purple and taste like carrots. Sometimes however things are not so benign (if annoying), sometimes instead of catching a fish in the local pond you'll somehow catch an enraged sea demon from the Ocean of a Thousand Currents, despite being leagues from the sea. Happily though, most days are "cookie" days. Jin will tell you that exactly one thing goes weird each day around him and then everything will be find until the next sun rises. Dragons are wary of taking his word for this though and tend to avoid him when they are working on important projects or negotiations. Hatchlings however adore him and will follow him around to see what chaos his quirk will bring about.
Jin's parents swear he was cursed when he hatched. His egg never looked like the others, instead of lava flowing around the egg it was veined with molten gold and the egg itself seemed formed of obsidian. When a enterprising soothsayer wandered by their clan and saw the egg nesting she grew rabid with greed and was convinced that the dragon within would be gifted with great powers. Wanting to harness the powers for her own selfish ends she offered increasingly large sums of gold to take the hatchling inside with her on her journeys. Jin's parents refused and as the offers became outlandish the Clan leader stepped in, banishing the soothsayer from their territory. Infuriated at the loss and humiliated by her ousting she cast a curse upon the egg that the dragon inside would have no control over his own powers. The clan Seer told his parents that he had to journey far away to undo his curse. That one day his curse will manifest in an almost catastrophic event that will lead to the saving of an entire clan and that with that burst of power, the dam blocking his powers will burst allowing him free access to his unique and strong abilities.
