Buttercup was a rather shy hatchling and would spend much of her time hiding in the woods rather than playing with fellow dragons. When she grew into her own skin and proved her charm to the clan, she began studying magic. She generally studies useful stuff like ways to provide more food for the clan, but ends up just being playful instead. Guess the useful plant and water based magic was just wishful thinking.
