Origins
Beginning life in the cold crags of her ice-bound home, she was one of many drake-dryads of her clan tucked away in the sheltered pockets of an unforgiving mountain range. Her parents, both named and bonded to stalwart evergreens that could endure the cold, looked upon their shivering new hatchling and knew she was due for something beyond the cold. If she did not leave the frozen lands, she would die.Most of her childhood is a blurr of warmth huddles and presenting her to the various unbonded trees around her clan home, hoping that she would resonate with one and become acclimated to the frozen land. But alas, it never happened. She was given over to a friend, who bundled to weak adolescent dragoness up as warm as possible, and took her aboard a ship headed north.
Experimentation
Throughout the journey she tried her clan's gift of bonding with the exotic trees that grew among the other flights. Most of the trees were cordial, but distant and she knew that these did not belong to her. She solved a few problems along the way, aiding an orchard blight in Light and helping a bonsai collector in Lightning. But still she journeyed, seeking a home.At the Everbloom Gardens she got off and stared in open-mouth awe at the massive trees of Nature. Here she wandered for a time as if in a dream, following the promptings of ancient trees till she wandered to the edge of the Gladeveins. Along the water's edge she discovered her tree and her name: the Angela Mulberry. Its branches were heavy with purple-white fruit, and it welcomed all into its presence. Angela met with the local clan, and timidly discussed her new bond with the clan priestess. Once informed of the situation, she was welcomed with open arms.
Moving On
Sadly, all things have a lifespan and Mulberry trees are not exceptional in theirs. Angela collected the rare seeds from her uncommon tree for several years, knowing soon her bond would close and she would need a new one if she wanted to continue living. Not a Nature dragon by birth, she had no magic to give her dying tree to prolong its vitality--- only winter lay in her touch.Protecting her fragile seeds, she set out to find a new place to grow her namesake and share its fruit. |
