This one actually takes place inside the FR universe, and it's based off of my friend @Adventurnado15 's dragons. Hope you like it!

As the sun set over the horizon, dragons began to head back to their caves. The leaders of the Clan flew away to their homes on the mountaintop, while the lesser dragons of the Clan settled in the caves at the base of the mountain, as well as the makeshift cottages they had built themselves. Nobody spoke of the events that had taken place that day, they didn't want to face the wrath of their leader. In the Clan, those who had died were to be taken away by the Spiritwalker, and the commoners seen talking about the fallen would be killed as well. It was brutal, but the leaders thought it necessary. The Clan had to not worry about those that had passed on if they were to remain strong.

As the moon began to rise in the sky, a dragon arose from the reeds and the brush that covered the plains of the Windsinger's domain. The Imperial adjusted his hood over his head, then set off on a mission. The wisps of shadow were easy to follow, as they and decaying plants so often followed in the Spiritwalker's paths. That would make it easy for the Imperial to find the dreaded Pearlcatcher. Finally, he heard the mumbled incantations of his Clanmate. Letting out a sigh, the Imperial stepped into the open.

The Spiritwalker, a grim Pearcatcher with scales as dark as night, wings as white of the moon, and the pattern of shadows upon his body, turned to look at the Imperial.

"Rollan," he growled, narrowing his eyes. "What brings you here? You know this is a sacred ritual, a passing on for the dead. You are my friend, I do not want to have to take you as well."

Rollan sighed, pulling back his hood and revealing his twisted, spiral eyes. "It's not fair," he whispered. The Spirirwalker gave him a look, but then shook his head.

"He knew the risks when becoming a Knight, he knew it was his duty to protect the Clan, even if he was the only one. But see where that got him," he sneered, gesturing to the Fae's broken body on the ground. Covered in scars and holding a broken spear, the Fae's eyeless sockets emptily stared into the dark. Rollan gave the corpse a look of pity before speaking again.

"He did it for his family, my friend. He knew he was only a Fae, a tiny dragon, and the only one to protect our Clan, but yet he still put his life on the line to protect those he loved. That's more than our cruel leader's deserve..." Rollan gave the Spiritwalker a look, but the Pearlcatcher said nothing. "My friend, we can't just let him be forgotten. That's not what he deserves."

The Spiritwalker sighed, then mumbled some words, and a puff of dark purple magic appeared in his front paws. "My friend Rollan, I am no fool," he growled. "You may care for the boy, but that's not why you want him to be brought back to life. You just want him to be cursed and different, just like us."

There was a shared silence between the two dragons, before the Spiritwalker nodded, and the magic began to flow into the lifeless Fae's body.

"We are not so different, Rollan, even though your job is to bring joy, and mine is to take care of death. For we are both doomed to do our jobs until our doom. You are the puppet, designed to bring joy by humiliating and causing pain to yourself, and I am bound by my soul to walk both the mortal and ethereal plane to deal with spirits of all sorts. By bringing this Fae back to life, we will add another dragon to our ranks, another cursed one to share our grief. However, in bringing him back to life, he will be unable to die regularly. In order to be put to rest, his body must be burned at the stake, the only way to kill someone who has died once before. But until that inevitable day, he shall walk among us, another slave to our horrid leaders. And though living, he will be a shell of his former self. But he will always be there to protect us, defend us, and save us. He will do it forever, and ever, and ever, and ever and ever and ever......
Forever."
