As the Insect Keeper of the Smoldering Skies Clan, Itzpapalotl is considered by some to be a dragon of great magical prowess, as she functions with no cages or containers, keeping the insects in check with sheer will alone. Some say it is her attractive floral colors, and some say she has a stare that would stop even a hornet in its tracks. In reality, she uses a combination of magic and fondness for theinsects. For, you see, in Sornieth, even the insects are intelligent enough to recognize symbiosis. Itzpapalotl provides them food and safety - in response, they provide nourishment for the Clan in the form of plants and honey, and sacrifices.

Like the origins of the Smoldering Skies Clan itself, Itzpapalotl was born to an Ice clan. She was one of many brothers and sisters, Bogsneaks and Pearlcatchers, like her. However, as a Pearlcatcher, she found herself full of unrest. After all, her race originated from the Sunbeam Ruins - a place which called deeply to her. The exchange into another Clan was easy enough, as she was already an adult. Her parents were sad to see her go, but understood her homesickness for another place as a permanent feeling rather than a phase, as they, too, were born in realms other than their home.

She quickly showed her expertise with caring for small insect creatures, and was offered a permanent position in the Clan to do just that. Excited and overjoyed, Itzpapalotl accepted. She felt, at first, that she was having trouble fitting in socially, but if she found a job within the Clan surely the rest would fall in place. With a diverse Clan, it ended up not being her origins that isolated her from the rest, but her shyness. She tends to not be very good at carrying on small talk conversations, often leaving when she feels she has said all that needs to be said.

Itzpapalotl is a quiet dragon who primarily keeps to herself, finding more solace in her insects than she does in any other dragon. However, because of her profession, she finds more friends in Fae than in other any breed of dragon, and the small Fae population of the Clan flocks to her. She has recently decided to start a family with Zephyros, a Fae she has become quite fond of, although she's not sure if she could say she was in love. She's not sure she knows what, exactly, romance is. But she's happy to find out what love is.
