if you gaze long enough into an Abyss, the Abyss will gaze back into you ____________ It was created by the Plaguemother herself, from an abandoned and cold egg being dropped into the Wyrmwood. It is incredibly powerful, most of its strength hidden in its bite. They can move faster than expected for such a large creature, but its intelligence is their weakness. Upon hatching they made a home of in the Wandering Contagion, camouflaging itself in the tendrils and membranes. Their biggest treasure will always be its victims, the valiant soldiers and heroic adventurers now trapped in its stomach for all of eternity. It's said the screams of the fallen is what lures its victims into its 'mouth'. They also enjoy collecting mounds of treasure and antiques, things nearly as old as they are. The treasures are also an incentive to walk inside the mysterious but alluring cave. Lost deep in the mire, it begins to rain hard. The heavy drops splash more water into the air as they hit the surface of the swamp, creating a thick mist. Cowering under a wing, you spot a large shape to your right. Making your way over, you see a cave with a jagged entrance. Inside it is damp and hot, but it's better than the downpour outside. Mud squelches beneath your feet, unnaturally warm. Your skin crawls at the feeling. Something is horribly wrong here. You turn back to the entrance as the ground beneath you lurches. The mouth of the cave snaps shut and you are plunged into darkness as a large warm mass convulses beneath your feet. The surface moves again, throwing you to the back. You are swallowed whole. The mouth of the cave opens again, dark eyes hidden above ivory crags. Waiting for another meal. |
